Region South Europe is one of the 9 regions within the H&M Group and will have its headquarters in Barcelona, Spain. The Region runs across 4 markets: France, Belgium / Luxembourg, Spain / Portugal and Italy. 

Job Description

As a Regional ER Manager, you are responsible for establishing and implementing all employee relations strategies and processes to secure the markets implement ER policies towards internal staff, external organizations, and legal authorities in order to contribute to a satisfactory and motivating work environment and to minimize business risks.

On this journey we´re all collaborating to create the best omni customer offer and as a Regional ER Manager you will be a key player in making this happen. As a part of the Regional HR Team, you will oversee all ER policies and processes and ensure local HR and ER teams support management by preventing and resolving problems involving employees which arise out of or affect work situations.

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Based on analysis of local legal requirements for all markets in the region, you establish and support the definition and implementation of short, mid and long-term Employee Relations strategies for the region aligned with global guidelines and requirements
  • You support regional management in the implementation of strategies and projects by providing HR legal input when needed.
  • You support regional management and local HR and ER teams to handle and prevent employee issues.
  • You oversee and support local ER teams in the development and implementation of local ER strategies and processes and support in the development of ER teams.
  • You identify training needs and generate solutions on legal requirements to ensure knowledgeable leaders within the region.
  • Based on local legal requirements you oversee and support the markets in representing H&M towards unions and employment tribunal authorities where relevant
  • You participate in the definition of regional compensation and benefits strategies in collaboration with Regional Management and Global Compensation & Benefits functions to ensure a competitive remuneration package and benefits for all positions.
  • You support the definition and roll-out of regional health and well-being strategy for regional and market level teams.
  • You are a key partner in establishing and developing the I&D strategy in the region.

  • You have a Law degree in one of the European countries belonging to the Region and you are specialized in employment Law.
  • You have 15+ years’ experience within Employee Relations (preferably within retail).
  • You have a proven track record of setting and implementing strategies and driving results.
  • You have proven track record of leading complex negotiations with workers representatives.
  • You have strong analytical skills, are curious and solution-oriented, with the capacity to translate business needs into HR solutions integrating all legal requirements.
  • You have long-term vision combined with an action-oriented and hands-on approach.
  • You have a strong understanding of our business strategy and the ability to support transformation and change agenda.
  • You have previous experience in leading others within ER and the capacity to influence and support managers at all levels within the organization on Employee Relations issues.
  • You are a strong team player and have the ability to work and collaborate with multiple functions and touch points.
  • Knowledge or experience in France and Italy is a plus.
  • You have full professional proficiency in English (spoken and written). Fluency in Spanish, French or Italian is a plus.

This is a position based in Barcelona, Spain and we offer a local contract.
