Canva

Job Description

Join the team redefining how the world experiences design.

Kamusta, hey, g'day, mabuhay, kia ora, 你好, hallo, vítejte!

Thanks for stopping by. We know job hunting can be a little time consuming and you're probably keen to find out what's on offer, so we'll get straight to the point.

Where and how you can work

Our flagship campus is in Sydney, Australia, but with many of our Canvanauts calling the Philippines home, our office in Manila is a buzzing place. Whether your role needs you in the office, at home or a bit of both, we've created an environment that truly empowers you to thrive.

What you’d be doing in this role

As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

The role will be divided between 2 key areas:

  • Artist management and art direction for Canva Represents
  • Designing and producing template campaigns for the Canva library

It’s an exciting time to join our team. We’re setting crazy big goals and moving at speed towards them.

  • You’ll enrich your creative practice with ever-evolving consideration of diversity and representation issues
  • Opportunity to grow as a graphic designer, surrounded by supportive and kind senior creatives
  • The efforts of your work will fairly quickly be seen, used, and loved by millions of Canva users

At the moment, this role is focused on:

  • Template Campaign design
  • The opportunity to design Diversity Template campaigns, flexing your design skills, craft muscles and creative eye
  • Artist research aligning to the strategic Diversity focus of the team
  • Artist onboarding
  • Running creative Brainstorm sessions with each individual artist
  • Introduce artists to Canva Represent’s processes including Brief building, Pre-Production (Photography specific), Work In Progress documents (GFX specific).
  • Art Direction
  • Supported by a Senior Creative, you will have the opportunity to Art Direct diverse illustration, photography and video collections, providing constructive and empowering feedback to artists

You're probably a match if:

You’re a graphic designer and creative problem-solver with at least 3yrs experience.

You believe that there’s always a creative solution to a problem, you have a sophisticated eye, an understanding of visual trends, and an excellent eye for detail. You have some experience in art direction, including sourcing, commissioning, briefing and managing artists.

You’re passionate about authentic representation.

You believe that everyone has a right to see themselves reflected in the content available on Canva. Diverse content makes you smile, and the opportunity to champion under-represented communities is important to you.

You’re eager to learn and evolve.

You love a challenge and do your best work when you have a variety of different projects, alongside people with a mixture of skills and experiences. You’re inspired by opportunities to learn and grow.

You’re a fantastic communicator.

You love connecting, you’re comfortable in a brainstorm and happy to speak up and ask questions, even the seemingly silly ones. You enjoy giving and receiving feedback, and you’re not too precious about your work.

You’re organised and a team player.

You understand the importance to hit deadlines, and offer suggestions to streamline and improve team processes. You love to work collaboratively and lean into sharing rather than holding onto information.

Competencies for success

  • We shortlist by reviewing not just your CV but more importantly, your portfolio. Quality over quantity matters more to us - so best to show us your best and most relevant graphic design works – throw in those layouts, social media posts, and even branding projects!
  • You’re a hustler! You are adaptable and can work independently juggling the delivery of design projects and producing high-quality content.
  • You’re unafraid to get your hands dirty! You’re a senior designer who can give out briefs, at the same time, create high-quality designs.
  • Hear more about our culture, the work we do in the Design specialty, straight from our Manila Designers!
