GENERAL DUTIES

I.T. Senior Associates perform highly complex professional work in technology-related disciplines. While areas of specialization vary, typically I.T. Senior Associates perform a range of work in development/programming, communications, technical support, or similar functions depending on the needs of the Information Technology area to which they report. Work tasks include diagnosing, evaluating, overseeing and resolving highly complex projects. They have wide latitude for independent initiative and judgment and may serve in lead roles on complex programs or projects, and/or serve as a direct supervisor of a unit or group.

I.T. Senior Associates should demonstrate mastery of one or more technology-related disciplines, decision-making ability in situations related to those disciplines, and be able to serve as a resource in these areas. They may contribute to decisions on I.T. policies and technical standards.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION

The Department of Instructional Computing and Information Technology (ICIT) is seeking a Front End Web Developer. This position reports to the Director of WebServices and Digital Presence. Front End Web Developer is responsible forcreating and maintaining User Experience (U/X) and User Interface (U/I). Working closely with backend developer, takes care of the “frontend” or “client side”: codes pages as shown in browser to meet established look and feel requirements. Front-end developer writes CSS, HTML, JavaScript to instruct browser how to visually display pages and develop dynamic applications for end-user interactions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent
  2. An equivalent of ten years of experience post-high school that can be met by one of the following: ten years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology related position; an Associate's degree plus eight years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position; or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution plus six years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position
  3. Demonstrated English Language proficiency
  4. A Motor Vehicle Driver's license, valid in New York State, may be required for some, but not all positions.

This title has three levels. In addition to the minimum qualifications above, To qualify for Levels 2 and 3, additional qualifications, such as education, experience, or certification relevant to the area of specialization are required.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Skills required include proficiency with a full stack of web development tools. Specifically,

  • .NET, C#, PHP, JAVA, HTML CSS, WordPress CMS,
  • PeopleSoft interfaces, particularly CUNYFirst ERP;
  • API development,
  • e-Commerce experience, SEO,
  • SSL and PCI-Compliance coding
  • Experience converting standard pages to responsive design across all platforms and standard browsers.
  • Preferred skills include:
  • JAVAScript, Django, SQL (JQuery, MS-SQL, MySQL)
  • Familiar with PLONE CMS,
  • VoIP integration
  • Familiar with CUNY specific applications and services:
  • BlackBoard LMS, BrightSpace LMS
  • DegreeWorks, Raisors Edge, Visual Schedule Builder,
  • Hobson’s Connect/Retain, HandShake, Qualtrix Survey, Library EZproxy,
  • Oracle Identity Manager, Shibboleth, LDAP, and MS-OFFICE365

IMPORTANT NOTE:

When a civil service list is established, the College is required to make appointments from the certified list to fill all positions including those held by provisional and/or temporary employees. Applicants who meet the qualification requirements and are a permanent IT Assistant, permanent IT Associate or permanent IT Sr. Associate are encouraged to apply. The civil service test for the IT Associate (underlying title) is scheduled to open for filing in January 2024. Pure provisional employees that hold any titles within the progression (IT Support Assistant, IT Assistant, IT Associate, IT Senior Associate) are also encouraged to file for exam (s) in preparation for future promotional examinations.
