You will play a key role in supporting the development and strengthen existing client relationships and help our clients, who are industry leaders, navigate the complex issues facing their business. The role of an Energy Transition Director I Senior Manager I Manager will be twofold: (1) provide consulting services to Power & Utilities clients implementing energy transition programs, capabilities, and systems resulting in increased value and efficiency and (2) support EY’s Energy Transition service offering by collaborating with Power & Utilities and developing their respective vision, strategic objectives, delivery plan, and operating model leveraging insights from global case studies.

Your key responsibilities

  • Energy Transition implementation consulting services:
  • Provide functional and technical experience and insights
  • Provide strategic and tactical insights anticipating the needs of clients
  • Lead workstream planning and delivery
  • Design and facilitate client meetings and workshops
  • Identify and implement service delivery improvements to progress quality of service provided and process efficiency
  • Identify and resolve issues and risks that affect scope, quality, cost, schedule, and resources
  • Develop and deliver status reports and stakeholder communications
  • Manage resource demand, staffing, and allocation
  • Define team member roles and expectations
  • Lead quality assurance for service delivery maintaining standard of high quality
  • Energy Transition service offering:
  • Collaborate with senior client leaders and develop their respective vision, strategic objectives, delivery plan, and operating model
  • Negotiate and develop consensus amongst senior client leaders on transformational business cases
  • Leverage EY’s Global Energy network bringing relevant insights from global case studies to senior client leaders enabling informed decision making
  • Stand-up transformational programs defining scope, cost, schedule, and resource requirements across the areas of people, process, technology, and data
  • Develop go to market materials and case studies for the Energy Transition service offering
  • Present go to market materials and case studies during client facing workshops
  • Develop customized proposals for global Power & Utilities clients matching client objectives with the appropriate scope, schedule, cost, and resourcing to be delivered by EY
  • Evaluate and prioritize pursuit opportunities with financial, contractual, legal, cultural, and resourcing considerations
  • Support the development of goals, objectives, and plans for Energy Transition growth targets
  • Develop thought leadership articles and present at industry events on Energy Transition topics bringing credibility and awareness to EY’s Energy Transition service offering
  • Foundational responsibilities at EY:

  • Stay current with latest trends in industry to be a trusted advisor for our clients' business
  • Participate in new business opportunities by developing ideas and solutions
  • Develop long-term relationships with networks both internally and externally

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Proven business work experience in one or more of the following Power & Utilities focus areas:
  • Energy policy and regulation
  • Energy markets
  • Power & Utilities value chains
  • Power and Utilities business models
  • Proven technical work experience in one or more of the following Energy Transition focus areas:
  • Energy operational systems
  • Operational technologies
  • Operational capabilities
  • Asset/workforce/customer management technologies
  • Director role requires a minimum of eight years of related work experience within an electric utility and/or a consulting firm focused on Power & Utilities
  • Senior Manager role requires a minimum of six years of related work experience within an electric utility and/or a consulting firm focused on Power & Utilities
  • Manager role requires a minimum of four years of related work experience within an electric utility and/or a consulting firm focused on Power & Utilities
  • Experience leading teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ideally, you also will have

  • Proven business work experience in one or more of the following Power & Utilities focus areas:
  • Program management
  • Business architecture, planning, and implementation
  • Investment planning and economic valuation
  • Energy market design
  • Proven technical work experience in one or more of the following Energy Transition focus areas:
  • Energy system planning
  • Technical architecture, planning, and implementation
  • Technology portfolio analysis and prioritization
  • Technical competency with:

 Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS)

 Distributed Energy Resource management Systems (DERMS)

 Market Management Systems (MMS)

 Joint Transmission-Distribution operations

 Energy system flexibility

 Distribution Automation (DA)

  • Experience within an electric utility
  • Experience working with senior leaders
  • Experience with business development
