This role in summary

We are seeking qualified candidates for an analyst level, Industrial Designer in our Global Consumer Design group. This role will be working on KitchenAid branded appliances with the potential to work on Whirlpool Corporation’s many other brands in the future. 

Your responsibilities will include

  • Creating the customer experience for the next generation of home appliances 
  • Support efforts to understand emerging trends, seek out real-life insights, conceive user product design solutions, and assure consumer desirability
  • Collaborating with senior designers on conceptualization, visualization, and development of new products having a moderate level of difficulty, sense of aesthetics and user experience
  • Works to understand and support the development of User Experience and Brand Design strategies
  • Develops a basic manufacturing and industry knowledge, user needs, processes, and design influencers to develop a wide range of desirable concepts
  • Learn the product development processes, people, and design values
  • Manages personal time based on a detailed task list and delivery timelines
  • Capable of communicating design solutions with internal design teams
  • With direction from the supervisor, creates documentation of design assets for various projects
  • Influences peer teams within GCD by creating desirable assets, develops personal professional skills, comprehends and executes strategies
  • Supports senior design staff in the design process to reach clear, defined, and inspiring final design solutions. With moderate direction, manage creative activities for assigned tasks. 

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design 
  • 3+ years design experience in a corporate or consultant environment 

Preferred skills and experiences

  • 3D Computer modeling skills
  • Excellent 2D visual digital and analog communication skills
  • Excellent project management and planning skills
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to facilitate communication across different disciplines 
  • Excellent decision-making abilities and self-motivation 
  • Adaptability and flexibility to change as designs and processes improve over time
