What does a VFX Technical Artist do?

As a Sr. VFX Technical Artist on the Frostbite Rendering team, you will report to Frostbite's Art & Rendering Technical Art Director. You will directly contribute to and push the boundaries of the VFX rendering techniques and workflows that Frostbite releases to our community of game teams. You will work closely with engineers on the Frostbite team and content creators throughout EA to steer the design of new features and toolsets to create a world-class VFX rendering toolset in the Frostbite game engine. 

You Will

  • As a VFX Technical Artist on Frostbite, you will collaborate directly with engineers, product owners and game teams to improve the features, tools, and workflows of our VFX systems.
  • You will collaborate and advise on tools, workflows and best practices with Technical Artists, Designers, and content creators across all of EA studios using Frostbite.

You Will Need

  • 5+ years in game development, with a focus around VFX 
  • Experience creating VFX content and tools for game production
  • Experience with game engines, graph-based workflows, and DCC tools such as Houdini or Maya
  • Shipped 2 + games or similar within relevant industries

Bonus

  • Experience optimizing VFX content for performance and memory in a shipped title
  • Knowledge of HLSL, profiling software, and scripting languages
  • Shipped a AAA title
  • Comfortable engaging and building relationships with multiple teams and individuals globally
