The Ottawa office is focussed on R&D and has more than 50 co-op students working in a range of areas and jobs. This team is responsible for Digital Hardware development of the next generation of wireless base station radio. We are developing state of the art multi-standard radio (RF) and digital hardware for cellular LTE, W-CDMA, and GSM applications. Our base station products are deployed with worldwide leading mobile operators.

The specific area for this position is radio development engineering including digital hardware design, radio integration, and radio verification. This position is in Ericsson R&D center located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

The chosen candidate will be primarily involved in the activities related to the design, integration, and verification of new multi-standard radios. These activities will include both up front design work and back end integration and verification of the new hardware. Verification test cases are performed in a lab environment via both automated and manual means.

The candidate will work under the guidance and supervision of a team leader and a line manager.

What you will do

  • Participating in development of digital HW for Radio products within digital HW design team
  • Participating in defining verification specification and developing verification test cases
  • Trouble shooting and contributing to resolution of issues uncovered during verification and integration
  • Working with the team to perform software and hardware integration task in the HW and SW labs
  • Performing hands-on subsystem or system verification of the delivered functionality
  • Reviewing design specification documentation, schematics, verification documentation, and layout board implementation

You will bring

  • Student in B.Sc. or M. Sc. program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related fields. Preferably 3rd and 4th year students.
  • No previous work experience required.
  • Must have completed minimum of 3 years in the program.
  • Proactive, motivated, organized and efficient
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Flexible and able to multi-task
  • Attention to details
  • Excellent written and oral communication (English)

This position reports directly to Manager Digital Design
