(Hiring salary will be based on experience, credentials, pay equity, and statewide rules. Position may be filled at lower level or higher level based on experience.)
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
We are seeking a dedicated Auditor/Examiner (Levels 1, 2, or 3) to perform audits and continuously monitor purchasing and p-card activities at both the entity and enterprise-wide levels within state government. The role involves evaluating compliance with the state of Georgia's purchasing laws, policies, and procedures, collaborating closely with procurement officials and DOAS management to identify improvement areas, and preparing concise audit reports with recommendations.
Job Responsibilities:
The job posting for the Auditor/Examiner (Levels 1, 2, or 3) is designed to accommodate candidates with varying levels of experience and provide a role that evolves in flexibility and autonomy. As the levels increase from 1 to 3, the job description implies increased flexibility and decreased supervision. Here's how:
Auditor/Examiner Level 1: This entry-level position is likely to have more structured tasks and closer supervision. Candidates are expected to have a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field. Their responsibilities
would mainly involve assisting in audits, documenting results, and learning the fundamentals of the role under guidance.
Auditor/Examiner Level 2: At this intermediate level, there is an expectation of greater autonomy in conducting audits and analyzing procurement activities. Candidates with either a master's degree or a combination of a bachelor's degree and related experience qualify for this role. The responsibilities expand to preparing audit reports, undertaking special assignments, and possibly leading smaller projects or training sessions. There is less direct supervision, and more emphasis is placed on the ability to manage tasks independently.
Auditor/Examiner Level 3: This senior-level position is for individuals who can operate with significant independence and initiative. Suitable for candidates with a master's degree and related experience, or a bachelor’s degree and extensive experience in the field. At this level, the role involves not just conducting and leading audits but also influencing policy and procedure development, identifying best practices, and strategic planning. There is an expectation of self-management, with minimal supervision and a capacity to handle complex and high-level tasks.
As the level increases, the role transitions from a learning and supporting role to one of leadership and strategic impact, with corresponding changes in the degree of flexibility and independence afforded to the auditor/examiner.
