J.P. Morgan is embarking on a transformation into the FinTech future of institutional banking by incorporating emerging technologies such as block chain, data science, machine learning, and cyber-security into the products we create. Our team serves corporate & mid-market clients and sits within JP Morgan's Corporate Investment Bank (CIB). As a Experience Design Executive Director in the Payments Experience Design (PXD) team, you will be leading a Design team responsible for core money movement experiences across our digital channels. You will collaborate with cross-functional partners to drive design throughout the product development life cycle, ensuring users are in the center of all we do, and that the products we build are simple to use and impossible to outgrow. Our users have multifaceted, fast-paced, information overloaded jobs, within an already complex industry. The tools and experiences you will help design must add value with minimal additional complexity. To do our job well, we utilize creative design-led techniques and consumer-grade principles to help us break through the industry jargon and bureaucracy and find insights that others can't. 

Job responsibilities:

  • Lead and support a 5–10-person multidisciplinary team, developing talent at all levels to increase their leadership and impact on day-to-day design activities.
  • Motivate the design team to create the experience for our clients and enjoy balancing craft with articulating the business impact of design.
  • Enable digital transformation, educating partners and increasing the velocity and quality of collaboration between product, technology and design teams.
  • Develop and lead the definition of the overall product design process for highly complex functional business applications.
  • Persuade and influence product strategy and tech partners with effective balance of inquiry and advocacy.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • 10+ years managing a variety of design talent / skills to achieve business impact and career growth.
  • Seasoned user experience professional who can lead and manage diverse teams and partner with Product and Technology in a complex business.
  • Effectively able to navigate from the strategic level to the details, enabling the design team to confidently execute designs informed by user needs and business goals and substantiated by research.
  • Experience developing a journey-based design strategy to apply an overall product design process: from strategic research to concepts to journey maps, screen design and prototypes to validation and production, including visual design and content strategy.
  • Knowledgeable of how to design and deliver workshops to define conceptual solutions and implement a user experience platform strategy to serve diverse personas and segments in a complex domain.
  • Experience with the multi-disciplinary and collaborative nature of matrixed product development and have methods for uncovering important contextual details to ensure we're solving the right problems.
  • Create, present, and document proposed solutions which might include interaction models and flows, screen and component states, data and information hierarchies for desktop, web, hand-held form factors.
  • Experience with FinTech or payment platforms and have designed applications within complex business domains such as financial services, enterprise technology or management consulting.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Passionate about understanding what end-users value and translating those insights to measurable value in production. 
  • Experience delivering enterprise complexity with the simplicity of a consumer experience.
  • Eexperienced in leading collaboratively with Product and Tech partners to define and manage Agile backlogs balancing strategic discovery and value delivery
