Job Profile

The Senior SAP Systems Architect position in HPE Global IT organization is being created to have overall responsibility to optimize the performance of the legacy SAP landscape deliver the future SAP solutions and strategies for the newly implemented Next Gen IT SAP, HANA landscapes. This position will provide the architectural direction to the team that specializes in providing SAP platform services strategies and ongoing operations that is used by HPE business units globally. As the Senior Architect of this group, you will build upon our state of the art technology and craft the processes needed by HPE to continuously operate, innovate and grow. Working with the infrastructure and functional SAP support vendor teams, you will play a key role in driving HPE’s Global IT SAP technology roadmap and the ongoing lifecycle support. This position will function under Senior Director who leads HPE’s SAP Platform & Managed Print Services Team, Global IT. The application landscape, for which this Architect will be responsible, includes myriad of applications like SAP, HANA, Max DB, BRIM, SDI, FIORI, BRIM, Solution Manager, FRUN, LRS, TIDAL etc

Job Description Summary

This position for SAP Systems Architect position is for the SAP/HANA Platform, Managed Enterprise Print & Tidal Services Team within HPE Global IT organization. This role is being created to have overall responsibility to design, optimize, run and maintain the legacy, Next Gen & BRIM (aaS) SAP, HANA & Middleware platforms. Which runs HPE Business processes. This position will provide the deep dive architectural direction to the team that specializes in providing SAP Basis, Infrastructure, Network and DB teams that supports strategy and ongoing operations that is used by HPE globally. As the senior architect of this group, you will build upon our state of the art technology, and craft the processes needed by HPE to continuously operate, innovate and grow. Working alongside with the infrastructure and many other cross functional & business teams, you will play a key role in driving HPE’s Global IT SAP technology roadmap and the ongoing lifecycle support. The role will be an individual contributor during EA design, QBR and working closely with ISV.

Responsibilities:

Must have 15 plus years with a very strong expertise of SAP Technical infrastructure & application level background ensuring high availability and superior performance.

Experience in driving a 7x24 external vendor supported delivery model.

Must have demonstrated very strong expertise in S4 HANA, B4 HANA, BRIM, ECC, SCM, SLT, PI that runs on HANA and Oracle Databases.

Responsible for all aspects of the SAP & HANA platform, workload optimization, continuous availability, process enforcement to provide secure and reliable application performance across the ecosystem which include associated SAP’s Middleware and bolt-on applications Ariba, Concur, Content Server, TIDAL, LRS Print Services etc.

Responsible for maintaining multiple SAP landscapes and migrating from legacy (ECC) to new (HANA). Including strategy around technical and limited functional data migrations between the two.

Hands on Knowledge on SAP Workloads Class Management, HANA Active/Active Query Diversion, HANA System Replication

Provide technical expertise in the domain of SAP Basis support services in the areas of operations, project management, and serve as an escalation resource for all technical needs.

Ongoing review of capacity utilization, strategize organic growth strategy for the legacy, Next Gen IT & aaS SAP platforms and its underlying database to align with budget planning.

Ensure availability and optimal performance of services through continuous assessment of IT infrastructure operations.

Provide advance notification of all planned system and IT Infrastructure scope outages and set realistic expectations on availability.

Work with the other IT towers, in particular the technical architects in cross functional towers and the change management team ensure all change meet or exceed architectural guidelines and to schedule as appropriate.

Responsible for Assess cyber risk and provide timely mitigation and remediation plans across the SAP & HANA related platforms.

Evaluate new technology and tools and build business cases for their use in the SAP ecosystem.

Experience with the configuration and use of SAP specific scheduling, management and monitoring tools such as Tidal, Solution Manager. Focused Run, New Relic etc

Participate in Disaster Recovery exercises for the in scope SAP landscape.

Engagement Delivery

Work with HPE Global IT Senior Director who leads HPE’s SAP Platform & Managed Print Services Team, Global IT to manage all related vendor support contracts, Commercials and build ROI models. Guides and abides the vision of innovation from an HPE as a company perspective.

Conduct RFP’s, participate Orals and review SOW, along with resource identification assigned staff for hardware, OS, database, application software, and connectivity.

Success in the Role

What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing? 

You have developed relationships with key stakeholders within cross functional teams level both in BU and Biz Ops and have clearly identified Roadmaps, future state strategies for your various products.

You have a deep understanding of ongoing projects, technical challenges. Have aligned the team on the strategies for the assigned projects both internally/externally and have clearly defined goals and development plans.

What you need to bring:

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field, or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
  • 10 plus years of experience with broad and deep technical knowledge of technical SAP ecosystem design, implementation, and performance management while in ongoing operations across a global footprint.
  • A self-starter with a strong interest in technology and the ability to deal with a fast paced environment and ambiguity.
  • Strong understanding of technical troubleshooting methodology for complex global SAP landscapes.
  • Experience in design, build and operate of global scope SAP landscapes.
  • Experience with dual stack support (ABAP and Java stacks).
  • Experience with Oracle, SQL and HANA databases.
  • Experience in the aspects of performance engineering of in-flight and in-production SAP ecosystems.
  • Ability to facilitate problem solving among administrative groups with varying needs and priorities, and to communicate well with administrative users, technical staff, and senior management.
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication and presentation skills across organizational boundaries.
  • Experience with the practical application of IT infrastructure technology for complex SAP landscapes.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to work with a range of technical staff to develop joint solutions in project and ongoing support situations.
  • Ability to achieve efficiencies through workflow improvement.

Experience with AWS (or other major cloud provider) server / instance management and monitoring in the domain of SAP is a plus.

  • Experience with middleware platforms such as SAP PI, Seeburger, Snaplogic SFDC, Addison, Tibco is a plus.
  • Certification in one or more areas of SAP administration is a plus.
