Child Development Accreditation (CDA) or 12 equivalent college credit hours in Early Childhood, Elementary Education or Early Childhood Special Education. Position Description:
Position will be filled at Early Childhood Teacher Assistant I or Early Childhood Teacher Assistant II level based on candidate's qualifications.
Teacher Assistant I
The Early Childhood Teacher Assistant I (which may be referred to as Teacher Aid) is to assist the instructional team in all areas of the children's growth including physical, social/emotional, cognitive, literacy and math. Demonstrate knowledge of child development as well as health, safety, and nutrition standards. Open to exploring and implementing curriculum strategies as well as instructional designs that incorporate brain research and adaptations for special needs thereby always demonstrating a learning attitude. This position requires a talent for working with young children, an appreciation for all family configurations and cultures, a respect for the family as the child's first teacher, and a willingness to work as a partner with the family.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Teacher Assistant II
The Teacher Assistant II will assist the Lead Teacher in the planning and implementation of a curriculum consistent with the philosophy of the Early Learning Campus including Reggio Emilia inspired activities. Responsibilities also include assisting with age and ability-appropriate long-term projects and research-based activities.
The Assistant Teacher will apply guidelines established by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and participate in classroom self-assessment and improvement procedures using the Infant/Toddler or Early Childhood Rating Scales.
This position is responsible to adhere to KY Childcare Regulation requirements as set forth by the Cabinet for Families and Children at all times, and to the requirements of the USDA Food Program. The Assistant will also follow and support ELC policies and procedures and perform Lead duties in the absence of the Lead Teacher.
Kentucky State Child licensing standards require all new ELC staff to complete 6 hours of childcare orientation within the first 90 days of employment, complete a total of 15 hours of state-approved training each year before hire date anniversary, and maintain current TB test.
