Huntsman is seeking a Corporate Occupational Health Nurse/Program Manager supporting the EHS Division located in The Woodlands, Texas. This position will report to the Health and Safety Manager.

Job Scope

Huntsman’s Corporate EHS Division is searching for a new Corporate Occupational Health Nurse/Program Manager who is responsible for the overall administration of the global occupational health medical recordkeeping system and for working with site management teams to coordinate the delivery of comprehensive occupational health care for Huntsman associates located within the USA and Canada.

As the Corporate Occupational Health Nurse/Program Manager, you will: 

  • Work with site management teams, IH, and local healthcare providers/clinics to identify similar exposure groups and enrollment of associates into appropriate medical surveillance programs based on exposure risks.
  • Reviews physical examinations, laboratory tests, medical surveillance evaluations, pre-placement assessments, fitness for duty and other health evaluations for completeness and conformance to company standards. 
  • Participate in quality assurance and auditing processes for external occupational health service providers to ensure adherence to company standards and the delivery of high-quality healthcare.
  • Head administrator for the global occupational health data system (Cority). Works with key stakeholders (IT, Industrial Hygiene, vendors, and clinics) to ensure system is operational and current. Monitors and audits system functional integrity and coordinates trouble shooting among stakeholders, as needed. Develops and implements training programs for new and existing users of the system. 
  • Work with site EHS teams to administer return-to-work and fitness for duty programs. 
  • Works closely with the Global Occupational Health Director in the development, implementation, and adherence to Medical Directives and global health protection programs consistent with Huntsman EHS Standards and local site business objectives. Develops or implements modifications to the global occupational health data system and metrics, as needed, to support these programs.
  • Administer the Occupational Health Center of Excellence by liaising with the Global Occupational Health Director to offer expertise and guidance in occupational health matters to Huntsman production sites.
  • Acts as a key business partner in areas like quality improvement, cost containment, community involvement, and policies that ensure compliance and return on investment. Implementing strategies to reduce costs in delivering occupational health services to staff, where possible. Monitoring and analyzing data for cost-effectiveness assessments.
  • Provides regular reports and metrics to management regarding surveillance exam status, regulatory compliance, and conformance to global standards.
  • Conducts ongoing audits of the global occupational health data system to assure conformance with OSHA and data privacy and security standards.
  • Works within medical budget and expenditures.
  • Coordinates with Risk Management team, as needed, for management of workers compensation cases.
  • Coordinates and delivers training programs on health and safety topics like Bloodborne Pathogens, Body Mechanics, Ergonomics, Data Privacy, and Drug/Alcohol Awareness to site EHS managers and their teams.
  • Participates in global networks and communications with other company health and safety professionals to share best practices, experiences, and successes.

Required Qualifications:

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
  • Minimum of 3+ years’ experience in occupational health and occupational medical record keeping is required.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid state license. A broad knowledge of general nursing required.
  • Skills in decision making, problem solving, independent judgement and communications.
  • Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and best practices, including but not limited to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), and state nurse practice guidelines.
  • Travel will be required occasionally

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in nursing is highly desired.
  • Certification as a Certified Occupational Health Nurse-Specialist (COHN-S) or Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) is highly desirable.
  • Proficient in electronic health record system administration. Experience with Cority is highly recommended.
