Group 1 Automotive, Inc., an international, Fortune 300 automotive retailer and a leading operator in the automotive retailing industry, has a new and exciting opportunity for a Senior Media Planner. Join our exceptional team and collaborate closely with our agency partners to optimize our 150 stores’ media strategy and execution.

Are you an automotive media expert who thrives on being a go-to-market expert? Can you fine tune and deliver the right media mix to produce exceptional results?

Responsible for delivering optimal brand presence across advertising channels: digital, including Cable, Radio, TV, CTV, Streaming, digital OOH and even some traditional. The primary goal is to ensure our stores’ ads are seen by the most people possible for that target audience at the right time, on the right channels and within budget. Develop and maintain relationships with ad agencies and media reps to ensure our stores get the best rates & packages available and are experts within their media market. Able to explain media strategies and plans convincingly to colleagues and store leadership. Do you enjoy presenting a clear and compelling media vision, with tactics that deliver results? 

Do you put strategy before tactics and are you well versed in audience-based planning, vs. channel-based planning, including using first party data to unlock revenue potential. Have you been a part of digital transformation from mass advertising, to personalized, 1:1 communication? Are you an attribution expert who can spot what’s working, what’s not, and can clearly communicate complex data sets to different stakeholders?

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with ad agencies and internal marketing team on strategy and execution for all store media investments.
  • Expert in all active buying markets and aware of market conditions and changes.
  • Responsible for market planning, projection, and reporting
  • Oversee schedule performance and ensure all buys are running as planned and make goods are being secured in flight.
  • Collects and analyzes sales and consumer data for internal marketing team and agencies.
  • Ability to develop and implement cross channel strategies (Video).
  • Comprehensive understanding of all digital OTT providers.
  • Ability to fully understand OTT reporting and implement key strategy changes to garner better/improved performance.
  • Ability to garner increasing revenue month over month on OTT buys backed by G1 store needs.
  • Comfortable performing research using a wide range of specialist media resources.
  • Analyzes effectiveness of campaigns and uses data for future campaign planning.
  • Works with ad agencies to ensure aggressive CPMs are negotiated.
  • Buy is executed according to designated plan, purchasing authorized dayparts as efficiently as possible.
  • Holds agencies accountable for agreed ratings and rotations.
  • Checks invoices for accuracy.
  • Troubleshoots and reconciles media billing discrepancies.
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Carefully analyze media schedules to determine poor rotations, missed spots, etc.
  • Ability to work well under pressure with accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Handles last minute changes while multi-tasking and meeting all deadlines.
  • Provide quarterly synopsis of negotiated bonus weight and added value.
  • Collaborate with a variety of stakeholders, from people who understand media planning and buying, to people who need media 101.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a concentration in advertising, marketing, business administration, or communications
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Position requires knowledge of Nielsen data for local TV/radio/Cable
  • Strong Knowledge of Strata
  • 7 to 10 years’ media planning and buying experience
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented with exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to multi-task, work successfully with teams, and work under pressure.
  • Demonstrates solid technical and negotiating skills.
  • Solid relationships ad agency partners and media vendors
