Intern: Environmental Engineer (Maine): Pike is looking for Interns to work within the Aggregate Division. The Intern will work with the environmental management team to ensure compliance with local and federal environmental regulations and help drive sustainability initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in pursuing a career in environmental management in the mining and construction industry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work under the direction of the Environmental Manager and with local authorities and the EPA.
  • Attend town meetings
  • Assist with environmental compliance monitoring and reporting
  • Assist with obtaining mining and air permits
  • Assist with stormwater and spill control plans
  • Conduct fieldwork to collect and analyze data
  • Assist in the development of environmental training
  • Help maintain and update environmental records and databases
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled in a college degree program.
  • Experience with ArcGIS would be beneficial.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team setting.
  • Ability to write reports and analyze raw data.
  • The willingness to work extended hours with possible night and weekend work and overnights.
  • The willingness to travel to other Pike locations throughout Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont.
  • A valid driver’s license
