The Facilities Management Admin is seeking (1) Director, Facilities Maintenance and Operations, to join the already awesome team taking the Facilities Admin Department to the next level of excellence!

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO

The ideal candidate is responsible for the quality and administration of the Facilities operations program, provides leadership in Maintenance & Operations, administers policies and procedures, and ensures high quality and consistent work standards. In addition to supporting the department, the Director, Facilities Maintenance and Operations, assignments will generally fall into one of the following groupings, although overlapping of duties may occur as needed:

  • Manages the day-to-day operations of the University's maintenance & operations.
  • Develops and maintains proactive customer support to minimize response times and sustain an environment that supports teaching, scholarship, and research.
  • Ability to mentor and develop personnel to promote technical competency and professional growth.
  • Develops and controls the maintenance and operations budget of approximately $10,900,000.
  • Develops and implements corrective, statutory, and preventive maintenance procedures to best use in-house and contract resources.
  • Tracks and monitor trends in HVAC control systems, energy conservation, and preventive maintenance performance.
  • Reports regularly to the Vice President of Facilities Management regarding preventive maintenance tasks and the status of major equipment operations.
  • Supports FMSD by developing maintenance and repair resource optimization strategies. 
  • Directs all personnel activities for assigned personnel, including communicating job requirements, hiring, writing job definitions, performing performance appraisals, discipline, development, and evaluation. 
  • Leads innovative utilization and application of current technologies for maintenance management.
  • Serves as the secondary daily contact for college and departmental facilities officers. 
  • Manage the interface between the infrastructure, maintenance unit, and Facilities Planning, Design, and construction to develop and sustain project hand-off procedures and update building design guidelines. 
  • Leads the team in performing building condition inspections, updates the facility condition database, develops cost estimates to support project planning. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Vice President.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and six years of supervisory/ management experience or a combination of education and experience. 

Preferred Hiring Qualifications:

  • A degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or a related degree is preferred.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and organizational skills and demonstrated ability to work with a demanding client base.
  • Knowledge of University rules, policies, and procedures 
  • Knowledge of business management practices
  • Knowledge of various software and information systems
  • Strong public relations skills
  • Skilled in professional business writing
  • Effective time management, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to supervise and direct the work of others.
  • Ability to plan, develop, and analyze work procedures
