Hi, we are ecobee.

ecobee introduced the world’s first smart Wi-Fi thermostat to help millions of consumers save money, conserve energy, and bring home automation into their lives. That was just the beginning. We continue our pursuit to create technology that brings peace of mind into the home and allows people to focus on the moments that matter most. We take pride in making a meaningful difference to the environment, all while being part of the exciting, connected home revolution.

In 2021, ecobee became a subsidiary of Generac Power Systems. Generac introduced the first affordable backup generator and later created the category of automatic home standby generator. The company is committed to sustainable, cleaner energy products poised to revolutionize the 21st century electrical grid. Together, we take pride in making a meaningful difference to the environment.

Why we love to do what we do:

We’re helping build the world of tomorrow with solutions that improve everyday life while making a positive impact on the planet. Our products and services work in harmony to provide comfort, efficiency, and peace of mind for millions of homes and businesses. While we’re proud of what we’ve done so far, there’s still a lot we can do—and you can be part of it.

Join our extraordinary team.

We're a rapidly growing global tech company headquartered in Canada, in the heart of downtown Toronto, with a satellite office in Leeds, UK (and remote ecopeeps in the US). We get to work with some of North America and UK's leading professionals. Our colleagues are proud to bring their authentic selves to work, confident that what we do is grounded in a greater purpose. We’re always looking for curious, talented, and passionate people to join our team.

Who You Will Be Joining:

We’re looking for a Staff Product Manager (Technical) to join our Mobile Platform team as we execute on our mobile app strategy, part of which is to create a greater vision for how we tie our devices and experiences into a better experience for customers across our native iOS and Android apps. As part of the Mobile Platform team, you’ll be at the intersection of product and services, working with all of our mobile and device teams to ensure a cohesive app experience.

You will develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with Product, Engineering, Product Design, and other stakeholders, including the other mobile teams contributing to our apps.

How you’ll make an impact:

  • As a Staff Product Manager (Technical) at ecobee, you will work with other PMs on the Mobile Platform team to drive product strategy and execution, reliably shipping initiatives that reduce friction and improve the experience for both our customers and our development teams
  • Partner with engineering to build out a backlog, enabling more efficient contribution to the app from the mobile development teams across organizations
  • Partner across device teams to integrate new products and create platform UX components and systems including Home Page, Settings, Navigation and more
  • Plan, execute, and evangelize platform capabilities and look across our devices to propose and launch experiences that benefit customers’ lives through Machine Learning and design
  • Expand and iterate on our processes and tooling to enable teams to deliver more effectively as we scale
  • Work with external platform partners (Apple & Google) to identify and leverage the latest technologies on iOS and Android
  • Work with other mobile teams to drive cohesive release planning, release communication (internal & external) as well as work with engineering to drive release adherence and quality
  • Establish and maintain quality, performance and efficiency metrics for the consumer mobile experience
  • Given the team’s scope, this role will require considerable technical and product expertise and the ability to work closely with engineering to identify opportunities, formulate and trade-off potential solutions, drive the team to deliver the chosen solution, measure results, and iterate.

What You’ll Bring to the Table:

  • Strong technical background, including knowledge of mobile technologies on iOS and Android platforms, and backend systems, and the ability to manage software products across a full lifecycle
  • You have previous experience in a product role working on a mobile product, preferably in the consumer space launching significant customer mobile experiences
  • You can comfortably facilitate technical discussions and can provide input to technical and architectural design conversations. You ask questions to understand how technical decisions impact the product and users
  • Experience working with UX teams to launch high engagement, lovable experiences
  • The ability to distill technical concepts in a clear, succinct way to business stakeholders to facilitate timely and informed decisions, including advocating for and demonstrating the value of technical work that is invisible to stakeholders/users
  • You are experienced in finding metrics to demonstrate the value of product decisions, to drive influence, and to measure success
  • An entrepreneurial mindset - you must be comfortable rolling up your sleeves, thriving in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment, and getting the work done
  • You have a Bachelor's or advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Human Centered Design, or commensurate technical experience
  • Experience working on Smart Home or Clean Energy sector a plus

What happens after you apply:

Application review. It will happen. By an actual person in Talent Acquisition. We get upwards of 100+ applications for some roles, it can take a few days, but every applicant can expect a note regarding their application status.

Interview Process:

  • A 30-minute phone/video call with a member in Talent Acquisition
