Meta seeks a highly motivated team player for a role on the Marketing Legal team. The position will support multifaceted marketing initiatives and requires working with and providing guidance to stakeholders on legal, privacy, data protection and other applicable compliance requirements. Lead Counsel/Associate General Counsel, Marketing Responsibilities

  • Review advertising and marketing content to ensure materials are legally compliant
  • Advise on marketing and promotional requirements across marketing channels (e.g., email, telemarketing, contests, sweepstakes and giveaways)
  • Provide guidance on scaled marketing initiatives (opt in/out requirements) and CRM enrichment efforts (data collection and use)
  • Assist on advertising and marketing across broad areas, including ad products, ad-tech, insights, sales initiatives and consumer facing brand marketing to ensure compliance with advertising, IP, competition, privacy, data protection and consumer protection laws and regulations, as well as other legal requirements
  • Coordinate with marketing, product, policy and communications colleagues on multi-disciplinary issues, including those related to customer outreach, events and other initiatives
  • Travel as needed and collaborate with colleagues across time zones

Minimum Qualifications

  • J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least one U.S. state bar
  • 5+ years of experience as a practicing attorney at a law firm and/or in-house
  • Experience working with laws and regulations governing direct marketing (consent requirements), advertisements issues (claim substantiation, false advertising, IP) and/or promotions (contests, sweepstakes, giveaways)
  • Experience reviewing and providing compliance counseling on advertising, marketing, and/or promotions (e.g., guidance on consumer protection, privacy, data protection, and/or IP agreements and rights)
  • Knowledge of advertising and marketing industry best practices and/or keen understanding of regulatory frameworks that impact advertising and marketing
  • Previous experience directly managing stakeholders and/or cross functional teams to successfully complete objectives/projects

$198,000/year to $266,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual pay is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable. In addition to base salary, Meta offers benefits.
