GENERAL DUTIES

I.T. Senior Associates perform highly complex professional work in technology-related disciplines. While areas of specialization vary, typically I.T. Senior Associates perform a range of work in development/programming, communications, technical support, or similar functions depending on the needs of the Information Technology area to which they report. Work tasks include diagnosing, evaluating, overseeing and resolving highly complex projects. They have wide latitude for independent initiative and judgment and may serve in lead roles on complex programs or projects, and/or serve as a direct supervisor of a unit or group. 

I.T. Senior Associates should demonstrate mastery of one or more technology-related disciplines, decision-making ability in situations related to those disciplines, and be able to serve as a resource in these areas. They may contribute to decisions on I.T. policies and technical standards.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION

Under the general supervision of the Director of Information Technology, the IT Systems Manager is responsible for the following duties:

  • Following CUNY lead on the complex migration of M365 environment. Subsequently, managing and maintaining the M365 environment for both students and staff/faculty.
  • Interpreting the identity management requirements of CUNY SSO structure, and supporting the college in implementing and managing the SSO for both students and staff/faculty.
  • Serving as the point person for Hostos CC for Microsoft Exchange administration, server management and maintenance, and user management.
  • Leading the technicians responsible for integrating the XDR agents into images and server administration frameworks, defining the technical requirements, planning, implementing, monitoring, and updating as per CUNY technical and use policies. CUNY is implementing Cortex XDR to enhance the server and end-point security environments. This position will be central to implementation of this security environment for Hostos.
  • Building a “push” environment for all end-point devices to enable the seamless implementation of the new CUNY security paradigm for all user end-point devices. This position will lead the Hostos initiative in automating end-point image updating to stay compliant with security needs as articulated by the CUNY SOC.
  • Coordinating between the Network group and the end-point imaging group to respond to security instances and updating of devices, including servers, to maintain a secure environment for Hostos IT infrastructure and devices.
  • Assisting with the management of storage, security, cloud environments.
  • Implementing and maintaining computer and network service technologies that support organizations goals and objectives.
  • Participating in recruiting, selecting, and training employees. This includes overseeing operations, personnel, and projects to ensure high quality service as well as developing and implementing policies and procedures. Supervising team members and coordinating collaborations with other units to ensure successful implementation, maintenance and operational management of the technical environments at Hostos.
  • Collaborating with other managers, i.e. Applications, Networks, and Web managers, in streamlining overall operations and building and operating sustainable technical environments.
  • Overseeing the day to day maintenance and support for the Hostos Community College Windows based server operating systems, including Microsoft Active Directory Group Policy Object administration.
  • Proactively identifying needed platform\system upgrades to ensure an optimal and secure technology infrastructure.
  • Participating in emergency support and off hour activities that ensure system security and uptime.
  • Adhering to the College’s departmental policies, procedures, and professional practices in addition to city, state, and federal laws.
  • Participating in planning and designing technologies to meet the growing needs of the business.
  • Serving as a Systems Administrator, Server Group Manager, and PC Support Group Manager.
  • Overseeing numerous critical services and for supervising the teams responsible for desktop updates/support, student/faculty/staff email servers, virtual computing environments, data center operations, anti-spam and anti-virus platforms, and the campus identity management systems.
  • Engaging in developing and ensuring security procedures for computer software and user data.
  • Continuously carrying out of preventive maintenance procedures on all our critical servers to evade unexpected hardware and software failures.
  • Writing and maintaining various scripts facilitating the management and implementation of security standards throughout the college campus computing environment.
  • Monitoring the productivity/performance levels of IT staff and conducting performance reviews.
  • Remaining current on advances in technology.
  • Manages hardware and software installations and upgrades.
  • Participates in on-going self and college-facilitated technical and professional development.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Essential duties require on-campus presence.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent

2. An equivalent of ten years of experience post-high school that can be met by one of the following: ten years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology related position; an Associate's degree plus eight years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position; or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution plus six years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position

3. Demonstrated English Language proficiency

4. A Motor Vehicle Driver's license, valid in New York State, may be required for some, but not all positions.

This title has three levels. In addition to the minimum qualifications above, To qualify for Levels 2 and 3, additional qualifications, such as education, experience, or certification relevant to the area of specialization are required.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

The following qualifications are preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in MS Server maintenance and administration.
  • 5+ years of experience managing VMware Environments.
  • 3+ years of experience in SolarWinds LEM.
  • 5+ years of experience administering desktop environments.
  • Experience with Azure cloud infrastructure.
  • 5+ years of experience managing Mobile Device Management solutions.
  • Experience with OneLogin SSO\MFA configuration and administration.
  • MCSE: Core Infrastructure Certification
  • Knowledge of CUNY enterprise applications such as the ERP, LMS, SSO, Email systems, and Security environments is highly desired.
  • Expertise with Mobile Device support, Apple/MacOS and Windows OS desktop support.
  • Active Directory/Group Policy Management, MS Exchange, Microsoft Office support.
  • Experience with remote troubleshooting tools, imaging tools, VPN, and push technology highly desired.
  • Experience supervising an IT service/support team of at least 5 staff members.
  • Experience working with multiple units and/or organizations, building relationships, and on highly collaborative projects.
  • Excellent management, organizational, customer service, and communication (written and oral) skills; interpersonal skills to interact with all levels of employees/executives, vendors and partners.
  • Demonstrated problem-solver with the ability to cope under pressure and coordinate multiple activities in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment.
  • Self-driven, motivated IT manager with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Availability to work evening and weekend hours.

$99,599
