About the role: 

The Cloud Center of Excellence is responsible for developing Gartner’s capabilities in automating and streamlining IT infrastructure processes and DevOps tasks while improving Gartner’s self service capabilities using public cloud platforms and open-source technologies.

In this role, you will be responsible for helping to define and implement strategies for foundational services such as Identity and Access Management (including role-based access control, AWS IAM Policies, Single Sign On and Federated Access) and Networking (Transit Gateway, Direct Connect and Firewalls). The candidate will also focus on designing, implementing and maintaining the underlying cloud infrastructure as well as developing and deploying cloud native solutions ensuring optimal performance, scalability and security. Along with a systemic discipline we are also looking for candidates who can approach the DevOps discipline in new and creative ways and who are open and passionate about exploring new technologies to improve our overall environment. We give infrastructure and support to all the business units of Gartner, with a strong focus on performance. What you’ll do: 

  • Help establish patterns and build automation to manage cloud Identity and Access Management - IAM services.
  • Build automation for configuration and operationalization of cloud networking services.
  • Ensure that appropriate procedures and architectures are documented.
  • Drive cloud native and designed for failure architectures across the enterprise
  • Comfortable working with distributed teams and evangelizing the benefits of cloud and automation.
  • Strong expertise in leveraging a wide variety of open source technologies
  • Automation is in your DNA – not satisfied with performing repeatable work. Automate wherever you can, and ensure enterprise grade scale and security is built into your automation
  • Self-Service – develop self-service capabilities so consumers can use the service without requiring manual action
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team of application developers, engineers, designers, and product stakeholders to deliver innovative technology solutions.
  • Maintain performance, security, and availability of production systems to achieve 99.99% uptime.
  • Build pipelines, Maintaining Cloud infrastructure services, monitor our networks and participate in high-scope projects for Gartner IT.
  • Create and manage highly resilient environments.
  • Automate deployments (CI/CD) & other repetitive tasks using shell/PowerShell/Python scripts or tools like Jenkins. 
  • Configure and leverage configuration management using tools like SSM or Puppet. 
  • Configure automated alerts/monitors and act on any outages/incidents.
  • Ensure that the infrastructure is secured.
  • Develop, document and/or refine processes to standardize and automate wherever possible.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to understand systems, integrate with them, and develop SOPs for supporting them.

What you’ll need:

  • Knowledgeable with identity and access management technologies
  • Experience with structuring Role-Based Access Control policies, AWS IAM Policies
  • Experience working with complex network topologies and hardware
  • Experience with monitoring solutions such as Dynatrace, DataDog
  • Experience with Logging technologies such as Splunk
  • Linux, Unix, and Windows operating systems
  • Proficient in coding/scripting skills in Python, Terraform
  • Experience working in a multi-cloud environment – AWS/Azure/GCP
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Salt Stack
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support and improve architecture, systems, processes, standards and tools.
  • Write and maintain clear, concise documentation, runbooks and operational standards including infrastructure diagrams
  • Ensure all solutions are properly monitored and instrumented
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in development, test and production environments
  • Write and maintain code for automating the creation of scalable/resilient systems/infrastructure
  • Review existing and proposed architectures with an eye towards cost optimization
  • Continuously identify, adopt, & refine best practices
  • Self-motivated, eager to learn and ready to share knowledge with other team members.
  • Degree in computer science or related focus, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience in Software and/or Infrastructure, with a desired 2+ years in a relevant cloud, automation, and orchestration.
  • Fundamental knowledge of Identity and Access Management (IAM), Networking configuration (preferably cloud) and cloud platform services.
  • Ability to translate business and security requirements into proper IAM policies.
  • Build and liaise with key business stakeholders throughout the project to ensure a timely implementation and roll-out.
  • Monitors industry trends and directions; develops and presents substantive technical recommendations to senior management.
  • Proficient in analytical thinking, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with strong ability to influence both IT and business partners
  • Ability to prioritize and manage work to critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment
