Job Overview:

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, integrating, and resolving issues with SAP ABAP solutions and ensuring that code is performant, well documented and of excellent quality. Collaborating with the SAP Development Lead and various technical and business teams to ensure all aspects of the requirements are delivered as part of the overall solution.

With a strong IT background with a consistent track record in complex SAP ABAP software projects. Hold at least a B.Tech in computer science, information technology, or a related field, with at least 6 years of overall experience in a similar role within a large, global organisation of which a minimum of 3 years is working with SAP ABAP. A successful history of performing as the technical specialist in large-scale IT projects from inception to completion is crucial. Ability to work autonomously, with a dedication to staying abreast of the latest industry developments.

Responsibilities:

With extensive experience in SAP ABAP solutions, in a SAP Fiori first based landscape, ensuring that systems are performant and fit-for-purpose. Core responsibilities will include but not limited to the following:

  • Requirements gathering, design, develop, test, and implement SAP ABAP code and services.
  • Providing L2 and L3 incident management for SAP ABAP.
  • Modernising and/or improving SAP ABAP live through continuous improvement.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • ABAP Programming language, including procedural and object-oriented programming.
  • ABAP Data Dictionary, including building and enhancing tables, views, data elements, domains, search helps, and lock objects.
  • Development tools like SAP NetWeaver, SAP Web IDE, and Eclipse-based ABAP Development Tools (ADT).
  • Improving SAP standard functionality using User Exits, Customer Exits, BAdIs (Business Add-Ins), and Enhancement Framework.
  • Designing and maintaining SAPscript and SmartForms for document output management.
  • Developing ALV (ABAP List Viewer) reports for efficient data display and reporting.
  • Batch Data Communication for data migration and batch input processes.
  • Designing and implementing SAP workflows, understanding of workflow builder, and ability to build custom workflows.
  • Analysing and optimising ABAP code for performance, including understanding of SAP performance tuning techniques and tools.
  • Version control systems and how they integrate with SAP development environments.
  • SAP modules such as FI (Finance), MM (Materials Management), SD (Sales and Distribution), and HR (Human Resources), and understanding of their data structures and business processes.
  • Concepts and experience with SQL.
  • Working with SAP HANA, including HANA Studio and HANA-specific ABAP development like CDS Views and AMDP (ABAP Managed Database Procedures).
  • Developing and maintaining interfaces using BAPI's (Business Application Programming Interfaces), RFC's (Remote Function Calls), IDoc's (Intermediate Documents), ALE (Application Link Enabling), and Web Services.
  • Knowledge of HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript for front-end development.
  • Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) practices and tools (Azure DevOps / Git / GitFlow, Jenkins, Selenium, JMeter / Blaze Meter).
  • Adhering to Secure Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Solution development in a DevOps environment.
  • Release and deployment management and resolving Incidents to restore normal services.

“Nice To Have” Skills and Experience:

  • Relevant SAP certifications, such as SAP Certified Development Associate - ABAP with SAP NetWeaver!
  • Other relevant certifications for areas like SAP HANA, SAP Fiori, or specific SAP modules!
  • Lead/Team Lead responsibilities
  • SAPUI5 and Fiori for developing responsive web applications and HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript for front-end development.
