JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Manager, Public Relation is expected to develop and execute a successful internal and executive profiling communication strategy, highlight the region’s strategy, performance, growth, ensuring messages are communicated concisely to key stakeholders internally and externally. Additionally, this position will lead the development of a high-caliber executive social strategy to ensure prominent online visibility of executives – conveying and in line with the corporate communications strategy. In this exciting, fast-paced role, the candidate will lead the development and execution of Marriott International’s corporate communications strategy in APEC including but not limited to crisis communications, communications for for Marriott Bonvoy, Marriott International’s award-winning travel program, Partnerships, B2B and Development PR.. 

The candidate will report to the Vice President, Marketing, South Asia in this high visibility role. This role is part of the APEC Communications team that strategically manages and orchestrates all relevant internal and external communications for Marriott International in APEC. The communications team is responsible for the overall strategy, management, and delivery of Marriott International’s message to articulate the company’s vision, purpose, core values and business strategy with both internal and external stakeholders. As the voice of Marriott International in APEC, the communications team is responsible for managing the corporate reputation of the company both internally as well as publicly through strategic media relations and crisis communications. 

CANDIDATE PROFILE 

Education and Experience 

Successful candidates should possess knowledge and experience and demonstrate strong leadership and relationship skills as follows:

  • Minimum of 6+ years of experience in public relations, media relations, or communications. Travel, hospitality or corporate PR agency background preferred.
  • A strong storyteller with outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • A candidate that is excellent at building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Possess the ability to present ideas and information in a concise, organized manner, with excellent time management skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the APEC media landscape spanning print, digital and social channels; strong media relationships are an asset.
  • Ability to analyze content and channel effectiveness.
  • A team player who thrives in a pressure driven, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Excellent judgment, critical thinking and decision-making capabilities.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills with a keen ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization and work effectively with outside public relations resources
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or Marketing preferred. Master’s degree a plus.
  • Must be keen and available to travel. 

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

Expected Contributions

The primary responsibilities of this position include:

  • Lead executive profiling strategy and be the content owner of media briefing points for company’s APEC President, and, several other discipline-specific Vice Presidents across various channels, including but not limited to, internal communication channels, stage/audio/video scripts, Q&A, social media channels
  • Work alongside the loyalty marketing team to develop and execute the PR strategy plan of loyalty marketing campaigns and initiatives. 
  • Drives the loyalty program preference, awareness and affiliation. Ensures synergies are outlined and identified which complement and support Consumer Operations plans in Asia. 
  • Work closely with area marketing leaders and APEC development team to tell the company’s growth story within the region.
  • Handle protocols for internal announcements, and create alignment by taking concepts/ideas from various stakeholders and creating visually compelling content
  • Works alongside the Area/ Regional / field brand marketing team, as well as loyalty and partnerships team to implement holistic integrated public relations strategy 
  • Provides timely and accurate responses for media queries. 
  • Maintains professional relationships with media, bloggers, influencers and gain cooperation and respect to earn a reputation as a source of reliable, newsworthy information.
  • Research and maintain files for industry, company and other reference statistics, data & outlook information, including analyst reports, TIAA industry reports, etc.
  • Keep abreast of news, media trends, insights and/or resources for news and data regarding industry, company, investor relations, CSR, etc.
