A Public Affairs and Communications manager will be responsible for developing and implementing external communications strategies by setting up a high standard of work excellence and driving continuous team improvement for Lilly Korea. This includes using various corporate affairs disciplines, such as advocacy and professional relations, policy stakeholder relations, media relations, corporate responsibility, corporate/product communications, and issues management to help Lilly Korea achieve its goals. The manager will report to the associate director-External Engagement and will operate cross-functionally with Human Resources, Legal, Compliance, Finance, Medical, Sales and Marketing, and affiliate leadership team as well as with other Corporate Affairs colleagues in the affiliate, including but not limited to, New Product Planning, and, Pricing, Reimbursement and Access. The manager will also leverage headquarters, International Business Unit (IBU), and corporate/Innovation Readiness/communications resources to achieve affiliate Public Affairs and Communications goals.

Key responsibilities:

  • Environment Shaping & Access Communications to ensure an environment favorable to market access and launch excellence of Lilly products and pipelines in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Media/policy stakeholder/patient advocacy relationship development & maintenance with a view to positively positioning Lilly in Korea.
  • Corporate Responsibilities Program (i.e., Global Day of Service) to position Lilly as a socially responsible company.
  • Product & Disease Awareness Communications to not only highlight burden of illness and unmet medical needs but also to deliver balanced information on efficacy & safety of Lilly products.
  • Issue & Crisis Management Communications to protect Lilly's reputation from internal & external environmental issues.
  • Corporate & CR Communications to deliver Eli Lilly & Lilly Korea’s vision, mission, and values.
  • Affiliate media spokespersons support (GM, Corporate Affairs Director, and Medical Director) with appropriate communications strategy and messages.
  • Partnering with global/IBU to cascade global/IBU strategy & tactics, update local situation & performance on a regular basis, and leverage collaboration opportunities. 
  • Improving the PA & Communications team’s capability and leadership.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, with a minimum of seven years of policy shaping and/or public affairs and/or public relations experience
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and execution of strategic and creative external and internal communications plans and events
  • Ability to manage issues and crises
  • Productive network with A-list media, government, policy stakeholders, or patient advocacy groups
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong communication skills - written and verbal, as well as interpersonal
  • Demonstrated success as a team player
  • Working across a complex organization
  • Ability to work with senior executives

Additional preferences:

  • Pharmaceutical experience (especially public policy or public affairs)
  • Robust knowledge of the public affairs field, including the National Assembly, government, media engagement, etc.
