In 2017, over half the population in Sub-Saharan Africa had no bank account. That's for good reason—the fees are too high, the closest branch can be miles away, and nobody takes cards. Without access to financial institutions, people are forced to keep their savings under the mattress. Small business owners rely on lenders who charge extortionate rates. Parents spend hours waiting in line to pay school fees in cash.

We're solving this by building financial services that just work: no account fees, instantly available, and accepted everywhere. In places where electricity, water and roads don't always work, you can still send money with Wave. In 2017, we launched a mobile app in Senegal for cash deposit, withdrawal, and peer-to-peer and business payments. Now, we have millions of users across six countries and are growing fast.

How you'll help us achieve it

As Human Resources Officer, you will be the first point of contact for Wave Senegal Employees' human resources requests. You will also collaborate with the people (consisting of payroll, talent, IT, and HR business partners) and legal team to ensure a great overall employee experience and business continuity.

In this role, you'll: 

  • Support day-to-day operations of all human resources functions.
  • Provide both strategic and administrative support to the Human Resources Manager.
  • Compile and update employee records (hard, soft copies, and HRIS).
  • Process documentation and prepare reports related to staff activities.
  • Ensure human resources compliance with internal and country legislation.
  • Assist in payroll preparation by providing relevant supporting data to the Payroll team.
  • Manage outsourced staff service providers.
  • Coordinate human resources projects & assist the broader People team as required.

  • You will work from our office in Dakar.
  • Work authorization in Senegal is required.
  • This is a permanent position.

Requirements

  • Strong proficiency in English and French.
  • Minimum of three years relevant experience in HR (ideally in an international company).
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, social studies, or equivalent; further HR training will be a plus.
  • Good knowledge of HR functions (payroll & benefits, recruitment, training & development, etc.).
  • Great understanding of labor laws and disciplinary procedures.
