Social Media Specialist

FLSA Status: Exempt

Acme Brick Company (a Berkshire Hathaway company) has been operating for 130 years in the south central/southeastern United States. We manufacture quality clay brick for residential and commercial buildings, which we sell directly in 13 states and through independent distributors nationwide. But brick is only the beginning; at our company-owned sales locations we also offer tile, stone, outdoor living products, flooring, iron doors, and many other premier building products.

Summary

We are currently seeking a “best in class” Social Media Specialist with a passion for digital marketing and social media. The ideal candidate is hardworking and has experience developing and executing digital strategies with attention to both detail and design.

You’ll be a strong and reliable support to company operations, maintaining procedures, driving communication, and ensuring that the Acme Brand is represented well. 

You will report to Acme’s Director of Marketing.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities (Details below)

  • Oversee social media content and digital branding elements
  • Collaborate with agencies and strategic partners to build content calendar and social media campaigns across all platforms
  • Execute brand building tactics in local markets where target customers reside
  • Manage and secure relationships with influencers and strategic partners based on set performance goals
  • Identify and define metrics to track, analyze, and measure performance
  • Engage/present at meetings of Acme’s senior leadership team and those of our trade association
  • Travel as needed to visit plants and sales locations: initially to learn our business, later to engage with local and regional sales staff

Social Media

  • This position is primarily responsible for Acme’s social media presence including Facebook, X, YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram, Pinterest, Houzz and the blog.
  • As a digital leader, you will monitor and engage in relevant social media discussions about Acme and industry trends.
  • This position will write and/or oversee development of social media content, measuring that quality content is shared across all social media and ensuring prompt replies to questions/requests from associates, customers and partners.
  • This position will draft strategies to increase Acme’s social media followers, engage and retain them, and to drive traffic to Acme’s websites and sales offices
  • As a digital marketer, you will review analytics and measure the impact of Acme’s social media and communications strategy including change in number of followers, number of posts, hot topics/trends, etc. Reporting will be done both monthly and quarterly.
  • Working with influencers, and agency partners, you will oversee the development of social media/marketing-related campaigns.

Content Creation

  • This position will oversee editorial and content focus to attract and relate to different demographic groups such as millennials, Generation X, Baby Boomers, etc. and to different brick users/buyers such as consumers, homebuilders, and designers/architects. 
  • This may include writing a variety of promotional and educational materials for use in widespread outreach efforts such as content for brick promotion/collateral brochures, graphics, videos, webinars, news releases, blog posts, comparisons of brick to competitive wall cladding options, social media content, member online training classes, website content, meeting/event presentations and speeches, awards presentations, email campaigns, flyers, fact sheets, etc.
  • This position may be responsible for frequently updating and revising existing content to keep it fresh and relevant.
  • In addition, we prefer a social strategist who can create (and oversee creation of) short, custom videos using a variety of approaches (e.g. talking heads, testimonials, animation, graphics, PowerPoint, photo montage, b-roll, etc.) for use on Acme’s website, social media channels and online resources.

Website Content

  • This role will support the development of written and multimedia content on the Acme website.
  • As a digital specialist, you will collect usage data and produce monthly reports showing number of unique views/visits, ranking of webpages, SEO, etc.
  • In addition, your input will be important for recommendations to increase the effectiveness of Acme’s digital and website strategy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in marketing, journalism, English, communications, or public relations
  • Stay up to date on best practices and trends in social media marketing. Research trends, influencers and other time-sensitive topics.
  • Minimum 3+ years of professional marketing experience
  • Experience managing and growing social media platforms (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, LinkedIn, X, TikTok, YouTube, etc.)
  • Experience with Sprout Social is recommended. Experience with Uberall is a bonus.steph
  • Experience in Influencer marketing and partner marketing
  • Strong written and oral communication
  • Microsoft Office experience (specifically with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook). Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and self-manage

  • Proven ability to build strong relationships

  • Leadership experience is a plus
