Brand Manager Oncology - Lung Cancer

Business Area

The Oncology Brand Manager (OBM) will lead the development and implementation of the strategic and tactical plan for an oncology brand within the Marketing Company (MC) under the guidance of the Disease Area Lead Oncology. The OBM will provide marketing leadership and drive innovation for the brand throughout its lifecycle and will oversee brand success that truly delivers for patients, healthcare providers and AZ.

Main Accountabilities:

The role broadly includes the following key components:

  • Understands and articulates the oncology patient’s perspective from the moment of diagnosis and throughout their journey
  • Uses this and marketplace insight to deliver effective and competitive strategic and tactical marketing plan(s)
  • Ensures that strong external relationships within oncology are built and maintained
  • Inspires the team to develop and utilise this patient understanding to challenge and innovate thereby ensuring that AZ truly delivers for these people
  • Works with the DAL and cross-functional team to help shape brand direction ensuring the critical success factors for the country are supported
  • Leads the creation of innovative and highly effective strategic brand plans
  • Works with cross functional teams to develop clear country ‘value’ propositions for patients and individual Healthcare systems/Healthcare professionals. Ensures that these are sanctioned and aligned with the Global brand team strategy
  • Oversees the budget management for the brand
  • Agrees and delivers upon growth, sales and operational; metrics, measurements and targets for the brand
  • Ensure compliance with the AZ Code of Ethics, Global External Interactions Policy and Standards and Privacy Policy and Standards, especially when interacting with Patient Groups

Essential for the role

  • University education preferably in Medicine, Pharmacy or Science
  • Experience in Brand Management in innovative pharma company
  • Experience in Account Management in innovative pharma company
  • Experience in omnichannel/digital marketing
  • Experience of working within cross-functional teams
  • Capability to integrate scientific knowledge with gathered external insights to develop patient-centred brand strategies
  • Proven ability to understand, assimilate and communicate scientific information and to develop lasting relationships with a broad base of key stakeholders in complex clinical environment
  • Ability to lead smaller project teams that involve different internal stakeholders
  • Proven ability to develop tailor-made marketing solutions that translate global strategy to local market needs

  • Proficiency in English language

Desirable for the role

  • Experience in Oncology and/or Oncology Brand Management in innovative pharma company
