As one of the oldest and largest Geography departments in the UK, the Department of Geography at the University of Sheffield has a vibrant community of staff, undergraduates, postgraduates and postdoctoral researchers. The Department enjoys a long-standing international reputation for excellence in research and teaching. The proportion of our research outputs rated as world leading or internationally excellent in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework increased to 74% and all of our research-related impact was rated in these two highest categories. Our dynamic academic environment is developed through our six research clusters, including the Geographies of the Global South cluster (https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/geography/research/clusters/global_south).

We’re one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK.
