Amazon Prime Video is seeking experienced software engineers to join our Sterling team and drive the next phase of growth for our Display Ads platform. The Sterling team enables endemic display advertising within the Prime Video app, boosting discoverability of third-party content from Transactional Video on Demand (TVOD) and Prime Video Channels (PVC) partners.

Our mission is twofold: help customers discover new and niche content they might otherwise miss, while offering media partners greater control over promoted content and in-depth marketing insights. Sterling is a strategic priority with an ambitious goal to become a $500M+ business by 2026 through global expansion.

As a key member of the Sterling team, you'll play a vital role in scaling one of Amazon's newest and fastest-growing advertising products. You'll design and build highly available, low-latency systems to deliver personalized Display Ads to tens of millions of Prime Video customers worldwide.

Key job responsibilities

As a full stack Software Development Engineer you will:

  • Design and deliver exciting new features for Prime Video Sterling Program, which involves work on backend services as well as on clients like FireTV, PV apps on third party living room devices and Web.
  • Mentor and assist in the career development of junior engineers
  • Assist with recruiting and hiring
  • Analyze and break down complex problems into simplified, streamlined solutions, demonstrating strong problem-solving abilities and critical thinking.
  • Influence the technical direction of the team, contributing to architectural decisions and shaping the overall technical vision.
  • Build the team into an engineering center of excellence, fostering a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and innovation.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, ensuring seamless integration and alignment across various components of the Prime Video Sterling program.

A day in the life

  • Work closely with SDEs internally in the team to design, implement and launch new features for the Sterling program
  • Partner with Product managers on Prime Video and Ads program to influence and drive new features
  • Partner with SDEs in Ads (downstream) and PV (upstream) to iterate , evolve and improve the upward and downward integration.
  • Partner with SDEs in the wider org to collaborate and evolve org level mechanisms

About the team

We are the Prime Video Sterling team, who owns Display Ads on Prime Video. Display Ads enable the monetization of Prime Video experiences through advertising by providing Transaction Video on Demand (TVOD) and Prime Video Channels (PVC) studio partners with greater advertising placement options, targeting capabilities. The goal is for Project Sterling to mature into a CX neutral form of free cash flow, and generate revenue for re-investment into Originals, SVOD licensing deals, and other PV priorities.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $115,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
