Overview of Position The position is responsible for developing GFOB level content strategies for all of Apparel (Womens, Mens & Kids) and Private Brands that align with Macy’s overall Marketing Strategy. This position will determine all GFOB strategies for area of responsibility and build marketing support by determining messaging and placement within campaigns and optimizing messaging across layers and media channels. This role will also be instrumental in the brand building & marketing campaign development for our Private Label brands across all areas of business. The Senior Director, Merchant Account Executive will collaborate closely with cross functional marketing teams and Merchants to deliver marketing campaigns to relevant customer segments.

  • Key Accountabilities Develop cohesive marketing strategies for specific family of business that support seasonal/annual sales and EBIT goals.
  • Partner with internal Marketing teams from Marketing Account Executives, Integrated Marketing, Account Services, Comms Planning, Project Management, Site Merchandising, Pricing, Creative, Publishing and Visual to develop effective strategies and integrated plans to support GFOB priorities.
  • Partner with Private Brand team, merchants, brand strategy, Comms Planning, Site Merchandising, Publishing creative and 3rd party partners to create & manage dedicated marketing campaigns for Macy’s Private Brands. 
  • Develop relationships with Merchants and Editorial Content Team to align on key product stories and messaging to drive business.
  • Lead monthly GBM/DMM meetings to align on content and messaging priorities
  • Brief creative colleagues to create compelling content and assets that are closely aligned with the merchandise strategies.
  • Drive brand awareness and increase market share through an integrated marketing approach focusing on Macy’s destination businesses and/or specific family of business.
  • Determine best product stories to support businesses and prioritize content and offers by media for all campaigns and value events; plan exposures by tactic.
  • Review assets for all media types to ensure correct execution for specific family of business.
  • Drive best practice sharing across all marketing activities through monitoring and analysis of business results.
  • Adhere to FOB budget based on total marketing budget guidelines.
  • Develop Specialist(s) responsible for key areas of business 
  • Captain Brand Value campaigns (e.g Spring Fashion) as assigned for the season.
  • Work with Consumer Insights to ensure marketing strategies are aligned with customer segments and perceptions.
  • Special Assignments as required.
  • Qualifications & Competencies We encourage candidates with either a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field to apply.
  • 10+ years of relevant brand strategy experience
  • Customer Champion: Puts the customer in the room when making decisions and anticipates wants and needs. 
  • Strategic and Creative thinker: Ability to think creatively, strategically, and technically while applying structure and analytical rigor to complex problems, drawing actionable insights, and translating them into a vision, strategy, and action plan. 
  • Leadership: Experience leading, developing and coaching a team at various levels. Collaboration skills are critical with an ability to lead cross-functionally through influence and building relationships across functions and hierarchy levels. 
  • Influential Communicator: Practices open and continuous communication, values keeping others informed, effectively presenting information in a clear, concise manner.
