DESCRIPTION

Wondery is hiring for a Sr. Managing Producer to oversee the production processes for our always-on shows. This role will work with a team of managing and coordinating producers, and oversee the day-to-day production of multiple podcasts. You will be the main point of contact between your show vertical and marketing, sales, and ad operations to ensure a smooth production process for episodes and deliverables, including building and maintaining calendars, budgets, contracts, and facilitating delivery of assets. Strong organization, communication, and managerial skills are absolutely essential for this role.

You will report to the Head of Production Operations (who leads a team of sr. managing producers, managing producers and coordinating producers) and work closely with your show vertical. This is an opportunity to help build and maintain infrastructure and organization for our growing slate of always-on shows. We develop premium content and this role is key to building the foundation under each show.

Key job responsibilities

  • Collaborate with creative and production stakeholders to ensure shows are financially and creatively sustainable
  • Set new productions up for success by creating alignment between a show’s creative vision and budgetary realities
  • Create and oversee production calendars, production budgets, and logistics across all productions in your vertical
  • Establish and implements production best practices
  • Track show-level expenses against the budget
  • Act as the main point of contact between your vertical and other Wondery departments to deliver needed assets and keep show launches on track
  • Use experience and judgment to creatively problem solve, troubleshoot issues, and know when to escalate.
  • Oversee the hiring process for freelance positions
  • Manage freelance production personnel (Editors, Writers, Sound Designers, hosts, etc) and their onboarding, including approving rate and scope of work
  • Support the development team by creating budgets for potential projects and own the production portion of Greenlight and Renewal documents
  • Support Content Operations in the development and implementation of new systems
  • Provide feedback on scripts and sound design as needed

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 6+ years of relevant experience
  • Audio production experience, show-level budgeting, project management, or similar skills
  • Experience working with external stakeholders and multiple teams simultaneously

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years management related experience
  • Video production experience
  • Experience with Airtable, Descript, Dropbox, Iconik
  • Podcast obsessed

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $73,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $175,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
