Job Summary

The Senior Manager, Private Cloud is a pivotal role blending deep technical expertise with leadership acumen. This position requires a strong foundation in virtualization technologies, including VMware vSphere, vCloud Director (VCD), and VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), paired with a significant emphasis on infrastructure automation and DevOps practices. The ideal candidate will possess a broad understanding of technology, capable of driving a team not just versed in VMware technologies but also proficient in automating and orchestrating cloud environments to foster innovation and efficiency.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic direction and management of private cloud infrastructure, ensuring alignment with business objectives and a focus on automation and DevOps methodologies.
  • Champion the design, provisioning, and administration of cloud solutions, emphasizing a balanced expertise in VMware vSphere, VCD, and VCF, alongside robust automation practices.
  • Drive the adoption of infrastructure as code (IaC) and automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and Chef, to streamline cloud service provisioning and management.
  • Cultivate a team adept in both the architectural principles of cloud computing and the operational excellence of DevOps practices, ensuring high availability, performance, and 24x7 support for customer-facing services.
  • Foster an environment of continuous learning and improvement, encouraging team members to deepen their understanding of underlying technologies and to innovate in automation and cloud service delivery.
  • Engage with cross-functional teams to leverage technical expertise and drive the collaborative development and optimization of cloud solutions.
  • Oversee the documentation and standardization of technical procedures, ensuring they are current, comprehensive, and contribute to the achievement of operational excellence.
  • Utilize a metrics-driven approach to manage team performance, ensuring adherence to KPIs and SLAs while promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Minimum Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in cloud & IT infrastructure management, with a focus on virtualization, automation, and DevOps practices.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (computer science or related technical field), MCA, or equivalent experience.
  • Proficient understanding of VMware ecosystem (vSphere, VCD, VCF) with a strong emphasis on leveraging these technologies through automation and orchestration tools.
  • Solid experience in scripting and automation languages (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Python, Perl) and a keen understanding of IaC principles.
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing technical teams with a focus on developing an automation-centric culture.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to foster collaboration across diverse technical teams.
  • ITIL certification or equivalent experience in IT service management frameworks.
