Human Resources Administrator - (24140632) 

The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is seeking a passionate, public service-orientated Human Resources Division Administrator who can effectively lead human resources operations in a diverse department with multiple locations.

The HR Administrator develops the overall direction and administration of human resources and related functional areas for the department. The position establishes strategic plans and objectives for staffing, workforce administration, compensation, labor relations, compliance with state and federal employment programs and regulations, and all other personnel and human resource related areas.

This position oversees the Human Resources Bureau, Occupational Safety Bureau, and the Workforce Planning section. This position reports to the Deputy Directory and directly or indirectly manages approximately 30 employees.

The experienced candidate must demonstrate strong leadership, change-management, strategic-planning, and analytical skills.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, public administration, psychology, communications, or a related field; 
  • Six years of progressively responsible experience in professional human resources management; and
  • Four years of progressively responsible supervision or team lead experience.

  • Advanced knowledge of human resources and ability to manage human resources policies and programs in a large, multi-location organization;
  • Strong leadership, change-management, and strategic-planning skills;
  • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills;
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills;
  • Ability to function under pressure and manage conflicting points of view;
  • Ability to demonstrate discretion, integrity, and fair-mindedness; and
  • Ability to manage multiple sensitive or controversial issues simultaneously.

Salary: $

105,000.00 - 122,884.00 Yearly
