Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum):

$45.812 - $59.112 - $72.412

The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position. The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices. 

What You Will Do

Provides a critical role in meeting the Internal Audit and Compliance Integrity Services strategic initiative of maximizing the value of data analysis and visualization. Combines an understanding of Sharp information systems and applications with the sophisticated use of data analysis and visualization technology to evaluate the effectiveness of controls, provide insights that contribute to the overall audit strategy, increase departmental productivity, and provide continuous auditing and monitoring of internal controls.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Information Systems or related field.
  • 6 Years experience in auditing, with a strong focus on data analytics within audit engagements, compliance, information systems, finance, operations or accounting in a healthcare system and/or at a consulting/accounting firm. And
  • Experience with Data Analytics tools, data lakes/warehouses, SQL queries, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).And
  • Proficiency in data analytics and visualization software and tools such as Alteryx, Tableau, Google Looker, SQL or similar platforms, with the ability to apply them within the context of an audit and special projects.

Other Qualification Requirements

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) - CA Board of Accountancy, OR Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) - Various-Employee provides certificate, OR Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) - ISACA, OR other comparable data analyst certification - REQUIRED. License/certification to be tracked and maintained by the department.

  • Collaborates with stakeholders in obtaining input on projects, developing and achieving consensus on the design and implementation of continuous auditing and monitoring projects.
  • Delivers or coordinates the delivery of training programs.
  • Presents complex analytical findings in a clear and concise manner to stakeholders, including audit committees and management.
  • Proactively communicates completion dates. Communicates in a timely manner when project schedules may not be met. Shares ideas and information with others who might find them useful.
  • General Support
  • Participates in audits, special projects, and other duties as assigned. These may include, but are not limited to, work groups and task forces.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to high-quality work and ethical standards.
  • Designs and implements continuous auditing and monitoring programs to provide ongoing assurance over key business processes. Provides support to continuous auditing and monitoring processes and associated technologies.
  • Provides training to Internal Audit and Compliance Integrity Services staff and other Sharp staff to implement techniques that utilize technology to accomplish audit and business objectives in a more thorough and efficient manner than non-automated methods.
  • Leads and Directs
  • Provides expertise and support on the various data analytics and visualization software and tools and acts as mentor for department staff.
  • Performs independent quality assurance reviews of auditors’ analytics workflows.
  • Leads training and development efforts to build data analytics capabilities within the teams.
  • Demonstrates expertise regarding information systems, data analytics and visualization applications and healthcare operations.
  • Provides advice and responds to special needs of Sharp Internal Audit and Compliance Integrity Services teams.
  • Reviews the need for training and recommends the appropriate training programs for designated individuals in order to maximize Internal Audit and Compliance effectiveness.
  • Performs as a key participant in the creation and execution of the Internal Audit and Compliance Integrity Services long range data analytics and visualization strategies and tactics.
  • Collaborates with team members to facilitate data mining and analysis activities of the Internal Audit and Compliance staff in the conduct of audits, monitoring, and special projects.
  • Participates in committees, project teams, and task forces inside and outside the Internal Audit and Compliance departments.
  • Maintains knowledge and understanding of the Sharp IS applications environment and has a good understanding of emerging data analysis and visualization techniques and trends in healthcare.
  • Capable of working simultaneously on multiple complex projects.
  • Participates in departmental quality improvement processes and offers suggestions to improve customer satisfaction, departmental service levels and productivity. Administrates the Compliance Integrity Services Matter Management Software.
  • Problem Analysis and Resolution
  • Demonstrates independent creative thought, which when applied to the analysis of data produces practical implementations and value added Internal Audit and Compliance services.
  • Analyzes data analytic needs and requirements through a variety of appropriate methods such as review of data sources and system capabilities.
  • Proactively identifies root cause and determines remedies for problems.
  • Designs and implements solutions which are flexible, highly reliable, and available.
  • Responds to requests for service and support within timelines as established to meet departmental and organizational objectives.
  • Customers are kept informed of the progress of their requests and notified of successful completion or need for delay.
  • Diagnoses, recommends and implements, where necessary, solutions to processing anomalies.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates audit, compliance and control objectives, and then defines, proposes and implements automated analytic solutions for both ad hoc analysis and continuous auditing and monitoring applications. Recommends when to take ad hoc analysis approaches and when to implement standardized continuous applications.

  • Acting independently, plans ands implements projects required to achieve Internal Audit and Compliance plans and goals within agreed to time frames.
  • Determines an accurate scope, definition, and charter for each project.
  • Creates and maintains a matrix of all assigned projects using appropriate prioritization, timing and creativity, such that projects are completed on time and within resource constraints.
  • Provides executable alternative solutions to work around resource constraints.
  • Manages interactions with clients to ensure understanding, agreement and attainment of project objectives and goals.
  • Determines and plans for appropriate project task support and task communication.
  • Incorporates and integrates thorough analysis, as well as sound professional judgment regarding project requirements, to develop comprehensive plans for data analysis and visualization.
  • Completes an issues list for each project.
  • Analyzes needs in order to complete functional specifications.
  • Creates test plans through thorough knowledge of the data and tools.
  • Meets with stakeholders on a regular basis to discuss projects and status of deliverables.
  • Performs comprehensive risk identification.
  • Develops and documents scripts, workflows, and similar tools that can be used and re-used by self and others.
  • Completes go-live plan and support for data analysis, system implementations, and mining projects.
  • Regularly keeps manager informed through activity reports on a frequency as established by the Vice Presidents of Internal Audit and Compliance Integrity Services.
  • Technical Competencies
  • Maintains relevant working knowledge of the principal enterprise-wide application systems (i.e. ERP, electronic health record and billing, time and attendance, etc.) installed at Sharp.
  • Develops and maintains a high level of skill in data analytics and visualization technologies applicable to Sharp HealthCare, such as, Alteryx, Tableau, Google Looker, SQL.
  • Acts as an in-house consultant to Internal Audit and Compliance Integrity Services teams and is responsible for providing an analysis of potential solutions to audit automation needs.
  • Provides necessary direct support, assistance and troubleshooting in the implementation of project deliverables.
  • Viewed by others in Internal Audit and Compliance Integrity Services as an in-house expert in data mining, analysis, and visualization.
  • Follows a methodology that articulates a concept, analyzes the information needs of the user, creates the design of the necessary specifications (hardware, software, people and data resources), programs the logic and data analysis workflows, and evaluates the actual results in relation to objectives and expectations.
  • Creates and maintains documentation such that procedures are well documented and communicated. Documentation allows for the continuation of analytic functions by others when the individual is unavailable. Documentation is kept up to date and is readily available.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of COSO internal controls concepts, health care regulations, health care operations, and contemporary internal audit and compliance practices.
  • Communication and relationship skills effective at staff and executive levels of the organization.
