Overview

Reporting a Senior Manager, Global Planning, the Senior Buyer/Planner is a driven individual whose knowledge and skills will help us take our component inventory strategy to the next level. This position is primarily responsible for direct material spend all activities in support of raw material procurement and inventory management at our manufacturing site. Within our diverse and vertically integrated manufacturing footprint, you will support the development of strategies and processes to ensure the robustness of sourced materials and their timely procurement while fostering supplier partnerships that result in win-win total landed cost improvements. 

Responsibilities

  • Along with the Senior Manager, Global Planning, responsible for supporting and driving collaboration with site stakeholders, including finance, supply chain, manufacturing, quality, warehousing, and product management, as well as external vendors to optimize external spend value, savings, and cost avoidance.
  • Responsible for site MRP-driven procurement including regular updates to material and vendor related data (lead-times, EOQ, Safety stock, pricing etc.).
  • Utilizes ERP to analyze supply and demand for components and sub-assemblies. Analysis includes component part availability, lot size, lead-time, cost, Safety stock and other critical parameters. Ensures the timely receipt of material while maintaining inventory at planned levels per MRP requirements.
  • Analyzes raw material historical demand/forecast information and known future demand to create future raw material procurement plans. Partners with production planning and demand planning to continuously improve the quality of demand signals within the ERP
  • Lead daily and weekly meetings with production planning where product shortages are identified and escalated.
  • Construct and run reports as needed to proactively identify supply gaps. Partner with production planners to ensure that product shortages do not result in lost manufacturing efficiency
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Incoming QC, Manufacturing, and QA for new product introductions and product substitutions. Ensure that new and substitute products are compliant with QMS
  • Raw Material Inventory management: Manages and optimizes raw material inventory quantities to drive inventory turns and reduce excess, slow moving and obsolete raw material stock while ensuring site demand/forecast needs are met. Supports Excess & Obsolete & Days In Inventory activities for raw materials under direct responsibility.
  • Along with Senior Manager, Global Planning, track and manage sourcing transitions striking the best balance between risk management and timely implementation of sourcing changes
  • Ensures site effective negotiations, execution, and adherence to supplier agreements.
  • Participates in the planning and forecasting process to establish standard costs and provide explanations for price variances (PPV) at site level.
  • Promotes the adequate utilization of the procurement lifecycle (direct materials) from stakeholder requirement definition, sourcing, competitive bidding, executing contracts and finalizing with adequate purchase order placement

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree or equivalent experience; degree in supply chain management/operations a plus. 
  • 5+ years business experience 
  • Experience working in and supporting an ISO 9001 or similar Quality Management System 
  • Experience with MRP driven procurement 
  • Excellent partnering and negotiation skills 
  • Understanding of the true total cost of ownership impact of decisions and ability to build clear business cases to support the collective efforts required to achieve sourcing savings 
  • Excellent problem solving, critical thinking and collaboration skills. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to set context, simplify complex concepts, and drive diverse teams to decision and action. 
  • Ability to demonstrate effective prioritization skills in a fast-paced, team environment under time constraints. 
  • Ability to effectively lead and facilitate meetings with cross functional teams and drive appropriate actions.
