Marketing at Prudential is integral to the growth of the company, driving deep understanding of customers and their unique needs, and delivering experiences that achieve exceptional business outcomes. As a critical member of the Group Insurance Senior Leadership team, this leader will report to the President of Group Insurance and will also maintain a reporting relationship to the Head of Digital and Marketing, owning the responsibility of marketing outcomes. This will be a hybrid position in a PA, NJ, ME Prudential location 3 days a week.

As the Chief Marketing Officer for Prudential’s Group Insurance business, you will be responsible for casting the strategic vision for Marketing to support Group Insurance business objectives, proposing detailed campaign strategies across Group Insurance product lines, preparing budgets and performance forecasts, and executing tactics that achieve desired results. You will act as a strategic orchestrator, bringing the modern marketing capability to the business through understanding their business needs and strategically executing in order to accomplish these goals. You set the pace and tone for the team on accountability, communication, and transparency. You are the face of Marketing to the Group Insurance business and serve as a strategic partner to the Group Insurance executive team. 

Specific responsibilities include: 

  • Translate Group Insurance business objectives into a go-to-market strategy, using next generation marketing capabilities, for existing and new product lines and launches in Group Insurance distribution channels in order to drive business growth. 
  • Support broader strategy with an innovative, “always on” digital media strategy. Leverage influencer, sponsorship, and social media to amplify brand reach. 
  • Define target audience, value proposition and messaging, and lay out marketing strategy for leveraging modern tools to personalize the experience for all customers to meet them where they are in their journey. Engage directly with customers to enhance the strategy. 
  • Leverage data and user insights to think strategically to develop and refine Group Insurance brand positioning, as well as to optimize campaign execution. 
  • Lead agile teams and oversee multiple pods focused on specific Group Insurance objectives using agile ways of working. Inform the goals of these pods through alignment with BU leadership on annual, quarterly, and sprint-level objectives. 
  • Deliver and nurture sales leads through integrated acquisition marketing efforts across populations and marketing channels in line with Group Insurance products/solutions, sales and profitability goals. Constantly balance performance objectives with a robust learning agenda to drive innovation forward. 
  • Drive Group Insurance customer engagement and retention through marketing across the customer lifecycle, utilizing a variety of channels and leveraging technology. 
  • Partner with brand marketers to develop and test messaging that ultimately improves brand awareness and consideration. 
  • Continually track marketing performance against forecast in support of Group Insurance objectives. Maintain clear scorecards across marketing metrics. You care about outcomes, not outputs, and deeply understand the numbers behind the numbers. 
  • Shape, set, and work within defined measurement/KPI framework by leveraging data and analytics to drive informed decision-making. 
  • Measure, analyze, and report on the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and initiatives, using data-driven insights to optimize performance and inform decision-making. 
  • Responsible for Group Insurance marketing budget. Determine the effective distribution of the budget across Marketing capability teams to ensure business objectives can be achieved, reconcile actual expenses to budget to minimize variances, and ensure measurable ROI on marketing investments. 
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of new product offerings to incorporate them into marketing strategies and serve as a business partner to the teams. 
  • Drive an innovative learning agenda and set an appropriate test-and-learn cadence through defining a pilot schedule, executing pilots, and leveraging data-driven results 
  • Define modern marketing capabilities and MarTech use cases within Group Insurance, through prioritizing measurement-focused and technology-centric engagements. 
  • Build and maintain close relationships with senior business partners and across the marketing leadership team. Closely collaborate with USB Marketing capability teams, acting as their key liaison with the business and influencing the business plans to enable the achievement of marketing outcomes. 
  • Lead a team of marketing professionals to reach their full potential and achieve their career goals, providing a balance of direction and freedom while maintaining complete accountability for the team’s ultimate performance. Foster a team culture of continuous learning, proactive market engagement, and collaborative strategy development. 
  • Provide strategic content and thought leadership powered by in-depth research and analytics. 
  • Responsible for a marketing budget of $15-20 million

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required (or equivalent experience) 
  • 15+ years of related experience bringing forward the best of modern performance marketing practices, ideally in the financial services industries; Group Insurance experience a plus 
  • Experience working in a decentralized marketing organization and agile environment preferred 
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, and dynamic environment where agile principles are key 
  • History of effective relationship management, influencing, and strategic thought partnership across large organizations with multiple stakeholders 
  • Advanced knowledge of developing integrated marketing plans across all marketing channels 
  • Ability to drive technology-amplified strategies through an understanding of MarTech, AI, Machine Learning, and other technologies 
  • Specific MarTech experience such as ABM, journey orchestration, CDP platforms/tools (Adobe, Marketo) experience preferred 
  • Executive-level business acumen in the areas of marketing industry best-practices and emerging trends, with ability to anticipate shifts and understand customer dynamics 
  • Ability to make data-driven decisions through applying and leveraging strong analytical and problem solving skills
