Position Overview

The Community Investment Coordinator strengthens the relationship between the Central Texas Food Bank and its individual donors by providing excellent customer service and implementing key parts of the individual giving strategy. The Community Investment Coordinator is responsible for project management of the direct mail program for individual giving, the tribute program, the holiday card program, and the stewardship library. The Community Investment Coordinator is on a team of five that also includes another Community Investment Coordinator, Community Investment Manager, Major Gifts Manager, and Director of Community Investment. The Community Investment Coordinator reports directly to the Community Investment Manager and interacts with all members of the Resource Development and Communications departments.

Relationships

The Community Investment Coordinator works closely with all members of the Resource Development and Communications departments and all other departments of the Food Bank for story gathering ideas and to transfer calls and emails. The Community Investment Coordinator has direct contact with sustaining, mid-level, and major donors via phone, email, text, and at in-person events.

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • 1 year of fundraising experience or equivalent.
  • Enthusiasm for providing an excellent customer service experience for donors and a willingness to learn.
  • Prior experience in a customer service role.
  • Excellent demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate to people of varying ages and backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Extreme dependability – being available during business hours to answer calls and respond to supporter inquiries that may arise daily from the contribute email inbox.
  • Ability to create a positive impression of the organization while responding to donors either by telephone or by email.
  • Excellent computer software skills – Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility in response to change and adapt to and accommodate new methods and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate clearly to avoid confusion and misunderstanding with others.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed when dealing with frustrated people.
  • Belief in CTFB’s mission, vision, values and culture.
  • Display a willingness and desire to work with people from diverse ethnic, socioeconomic and religious backgrounds. 
  • Display a commitment to service above all else.

Your Responsibilities

  • Oversee the direct mail program (as part of individual giving strategy), the tribute program, the holiday card program, the communications calendar for individual giving, and the stewardship library.
  • Serve as an initial point of contact to donors who contact the Resource Development department by responding promptly and professionally to inquiries, accepting contributions over the phone, updating donor information, and forwarding to other staff members when needed on assigned days.
  • Assist with donor events.
  • Project manage Direct Mail with direct mail vendor including coordinating RFP process.
  • Project manage In-house Direct Mail as it pertains to individual giving strategy.
  • Maintain communications calendar for individual donors.
  • Manage the holiday card program.
  • Manage the tribute program.
  • Create content for and maintains stewardship library.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports, data gathering, and completion of goals, metrics and deadlines.
  • Commit to supporting CTFB’s mission, vision, values, and culture.
  • Perform additional duties as necessary and/or requested.

Working Conditions

  • Hours of Operation: Core hours of 8am – 5pm Monday through Friday with hybrid work schedule.
  • Environment: Mostly sitting, computer and phone work.
  • Travel: CTFB serves 21 counties in central Texas and often requires same-day travel between counties, using a personal vehicle, CTFB passenger fleet and possibly occasional out of town travel for meetings, special events or meeting for some positions.
