Job Summary/Description: 

Gray Television is seeking a talented NextGen Television Software Developer to join our team and help redefine the way people experience television. As a key member of our development team, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining our NextGen television platform that will shape the future of entertainment and transform the TV viewing experience. This position reports to our Director of IT Applications in Montgomery, Alabama. This position can work from any of our corporate office locations in Montgomery, Atlanta, Charlotte, or Tallahassee, with the possibility of remote work for the right candidate. 

Shift/Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm

Duties/Responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

  • Collaborate with our NextGen Technology and Digital teams to define project requirements and develop software solutions for our NextGen television platforms.
  • Design and implement interactive and engaging user interfaces for television applications using the latest technologies and frameworks.
  • Implement features such as localized weather, news, and other personalized content to enhance the viewer experience.
  • Optimize performance and ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of the software across different devices and platforms.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, standards, and best practices in NextGen television technology and incorporate them into our development process.
  • Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and sprint planning sessions to drive continuous improvement and innovation.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in computer science or other software development-related fields.

  • Strong proficiency with modern JavaScript frameworks and libraries such as React.js, AngularJS, or Vue.js.
  • Experience with user interface and controls for presenting video, graphics, and other engaging media content.
  • Familiarity with NextGen television technologies and frameworks is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns, and data structures.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
