Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.

Project Kuiper is looking for a talented individual to lead North America Data Science & Business Analytics. This role is responsible for developing and optimizing data science models to properly forecast subscriber acquisition, retention, and service plan mix for business planning; as well as field operations volume, customer contacts, and inventory trends for operational planning in the US, Canada, and Mexico. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is comfortable upholding high standards across a wide range of domains, can manage responsibility for large scale business impact and can communicate effectively with executive audiences. They are comfortable working with other data science and engineering teams to architect their required data and infrastructure environments as well as with non-tech audiences to quantify business impact and establish roadmaps.

Key job responsibilities

  • Understand drivers, impacts, and key influences on subscriber acquisition, retention, and service plan mix
  • Lead the design, build, and implementation of data science models that take inputs from multiple models and systems
  • Develop pre-launch and post-launch science forecasts for gross adds, churn, and subscribers
  • Identify and act upon opportunities to optimize inventory, field operations, customer support, and workforce planning
  • Drive actions at scale to optimize forecast methodology and drive improvements to forecast reliability
  • Leverage Amazon systems and tools to effectively work with, process, and analyze large datasets
  • Collaborate with US, Canada, and Mexico business leaders to drive actionable insights across North America
  • Deliver comprehensive, written strategy documents considering different types of data and inputs across a broad range of stakeholders

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in mathematics, statistics, machine learning, or other quantitative area. Master’s level degree or higher preferred
  • 10+ years of experience working in data science in aerospace, automotive or consumer electronics industries
  • Fluency in statistical concepts and advanced statistical techniques (i.e., distributions, confidence intervals, time series analysis, regression models, clustering
  • Experience with statistical analysis tools, root cause analysis, process design and control
  • Strong knowledge of SQL. Mathematical, analytical, and data-driven decision making skills
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, including strong working knowledge of Excel and VBA

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years in technology, media, or telecommunications; satellite internet; or subscription services

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $145,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $294,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
