We are looking for a seasoned thermal system vehicle attribute engineer to guide and perform full vehicle thermal analysis to support EV vehicle program development. Deep understanding on vehicle system interactions and performance is a must. You will partner with thermal systems, high-voltage battery, propulsion/thermal system calibration, and interfacing attribute (cabin/human comfort, performance, efficiency/range, etc.) teams to optimize and balance attribute delivery with the most efficient system. You will use CAE and conduct vehicle testing to provide key insights to detect potential thermal inefficiency and issues, affecting vehicle performance, range, and cabin/human comfort. You will relentlessly advocate teamwork at all stages of the vehicle development process. As a team player, you will create impact by collaborating across the CAE, programs and all other key work partners throughout the company.

The Ford Vehicle Systems Application Thermal Attribute team is committed to drive the vehicle development process through CAE, testing, and analysis focused on customer attribute delivery.

What you'll do…

  • Lead development and integration of vehicle attributes (Range, Acceleration, Charging, Continuous Performance) related to the vehicle thermal system on current and forward model programs from pre-program start to post-signoff/certification.
  • Ensure robust execution of vehicle attribute deliverables for program milestones and engineering gateways to ensure program content is compatible with attribute target achievement.
  • Interface with Program, Propulsion Engineering, and Thermal Systems teams from the target setting process through the development, verification, and certification phases.
  • Utilize systems engineering to optimize balance between energy management attributes.
  • Develop correlated CAE models to analytically predict vehicle capability for the attributes in the area of thermal systems.
  • Leverage experience acquired during execution of the attributes to support core teams in the development of processes for new electrified products.
  • Develop timing and test plans for design validation and conduct vehicle testing and validation of subsystem performance on various duty cycles
  • Support vehicle drive events.
  • Champion attribute issue resolution plans.

You'll have…

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computational Engineering
  • Two years or more of experience with automotive engineering concepts and processes
  • Two years or more of demonstrated experience working with cross functional teams and driving product development issues to resolution
  • Two years or more of experience communicating technical information concisely in executive reviews
  • Engineering sense and intuition to question and understand results from CAE simulations
  • Knowledge of advanced and forward model development process
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, self-motivated, eager to take responsibility and deliver results with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of working globally across cultural and organizational borders to achieve one goal and meet targets
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills - ability to organize multiple inputs into succinct summary and manageable discussion for decision

Even better, you may have…

  • Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computational Engineering
  • Seven+ years of experience developing and delivering vehicle attributes (related to driving range, acceleration, charging, and continuous performance) customer targets
  • Seven+ years of experience in conducting CAE, testing, and analysis/correlation related to vehicle attributes (driving range, acceleration, charging, and continuous performance)
  • Knowledge of EV thermal system operation and influence on continuous performance/charging
  • Experience working with vehicle propulsion system controls & calibration teams
  • Experience with product sign-off and certification for auto industry
  • Experience with model-based engineering
  • Experience with Matlab and Simulink
  • Experience with Accurate Technologies Inc. in-vehicle calibration/analysis software
  • Passion for the development and advancement of electrified vehicle technology
