The Sr. Manager Global Commercial Alliances role is accountable for both leading the value creation for external partnerships, evaluating each relationship and for identifying new commercial opportunities with existing and new partners. Directs all activities for each partner in the portfolio and frequently interfaces externally with partners at all leadership levels in functions, including but not limited to Marketing, Sales, Business Development, and Legal. Strong internal collaboration with Marketing, Sales, Business Development, Legal, R&D, Quality, and Operations teams. Identifies and assess growth opportunities through alliances. The ideal candidate is comfortable with complex situations and challenges, building strong internal and external relationships and dealing with ambiguous situations, Additionally, the candidate should be comfortable with building solid presentations that include analytics, insights, CI, market research and modeling. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Primary contact for all partners, has comprehensive knowledge of the partnership value propositions, their markets, business challenges, and opportunities; ensures strategies and capabilities of each alliance agreement is aligned with business objectives.
  • Juggles between several roles as a diplomat, lobbyist, strategist, and business manager
  • Interprets the Contractual Agreements & Manages the Contractual Obligations, Maintains Governance Structure; Establishes Behavioral Norms Develops, Metrics; Monitors Timelines & Milestones
  • Manages long-term relationships with partners by demonstrating diplomacy skills and a high level of trust within both organizations.
  • Takes lead on issues (typically cross-functional) requiring consensus or decision, gaining internal alignment and driving to resolution with the partner.
  • Ensures that strategies and decisions are implemented at the operational level and that plans and actions are consistent with the business strategy.
  • Continuously monitors the health of each relationship.
  • Keeps the Platform Leaders and Marketing Leadership team aware of all significant alliance activities and issues.
  • Other strategic initiatives as assigned.
  • This position will work closely with the platform, marketing and regional leaders, as well as key functions including R&D, Operations, Bus Dev, HR, Finance, Regulatory, and other business areas.
  • Support the development and management of the alliance funnel, assess opportunities, lead aspects of the transactional processes, and coordinate with business functions.
  • Keep abreast of emerging industry trends, changing customer needs and technology developments through business and scientific conferences, customer visits while developing and maintaining a network of high-level diabetes contacts.
  • Conduct competitive intelligence activities, particularly as they relate to emerging or disruptive technologies.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 7+ years business experience with some in the medical device or pharmaceutical industry
  • Prior experience in sales, marketing and business
  • Strong financial acumen

Preferred Requirements:

  • Ideal candidate will have experience with either large account management, business development, product/brand management or alliance management.
  • History of outstanding academic and professional achievement.
  • Observed strength and expertise in working within matrix teams, including cross-cultural teams, and influencing.
  • Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills to work effectively across organizational boundaries and with customers/partners; good listener who is able to translate input into actionable information; excellent team leader and team player.
  • Effective team player with ability to engender credibility and confidence internally and externally.
  • Driven for Success and record of timely and effective execution in spite of multiple/conflicting priorities.
  • Proven ability to interact effectively with personnel at all levels of an organization.
  • Analytical and technical skills combined with a problem-solving attitude.
  • Creative out of the box thinker with experience in leading disaggregation of complex problems and change management.
  • Customer and/or Patient Focus - demonstrates the ability to put the customer and patient at the heart of what they do with the ability to anticipate the challenges of patients and customers globally.
  • Strong External Focus including value proposition development, needs identification, training development, and a bias towards responsiveness.
  • Strong collaboration and demonstrated ability to establish relationships and build rapport with all stakeholders, and influence at all levels of management through informed discussions and presentations.
