Overview

CFR’s Blavatnik and Robina Franklin Williams internships give selected interns the opportunity to receive training in the area of foreign policy; as well as skills training in areas such as writing, research, and program planning.

The intern will be assisting with developing more robust guiding documents that will serve as the foundation for UX, development, and QA activities during the 2024 calendar year. They will also contribute to improving the organization and prioritization of product backlogs, setting the stage for more efficient planning and execution of projects.

CFR internships are paid, require a 14 - 18 hour commitment, and are filled on a rolling basis.

CFR’s summer internship program gives interns the opportunity to choose whether to work in our office in a hybrid capacity (half in the office, and half remote), or on an offsite fully remote basis. 

The major responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to):

  • Assist in the development and refinement of user interfaces for digital platforms, focusing on usability and user experience
  • Create compelling visual representations of complex data sets to aid in the understanding of key foreign policy issues
  • Contribute to the creation of digital and print materials, including reports, presentations, and marketing collateral
  • Support ongoing branding initiatives, ensuring alignment with CFR’s style guides
  • Participate in the development of animated graphics and/or video content development
  • Aid in the design of materials and concept development for at least one CFR event and/or conference
  • Develop engaging visual content for CFR’s social media channels

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate student, majoring in visual communication design, UI/UX, data visualization, international relations, or a related field
  • Relevant research experience in web design, UI/UX, graphic design, and or data visualization
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch and/or Figma
  • Stong attention to detail and resourcefulness
  • Proficieny in business-level English and high level writing
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficiency in DataWrapper, JavaScript, and Basic HTML/CSS preferred but not required.

Pay Rate

$17.00 per hour
