As part of Axon’s VR team, you’ll be a key leader driving all content production and project management which will define the future of virtual reality use in Public Safety applications. We see leveraging the technology for training applications to be the first stop on our journey.

You will join an interdisciplinary team tackling the biggest challenges in public safety training head-on, including:

  1. Immersive VR-based empathy development training and de-escalation training to help officers engage with the communities they serve with greater awareness and safety. 
  2. Virtual Reality Simulations in Unity that make officers more confident in non-lethal tools like the TASER 7 and TASER 10 and be better prepared for high stress decision making. 
  3. Web Based Trainings that provide additional context and facilitation tools to make sure that officer’s get the most of their training time.

As Senior Manager, VR Production for Axon’s Virtual Reality program, you'll play a critical role in building the future of VR content in public safety and training. You will be the primary owner of Axon’s content project management and production and manage key relationships with SME's, internal and external developers and content partners to create innovative XR solutions. 

What You'll Do 

  • Manage and grow a team of 5-10 people including VR Content Program Managers, Instructional Designers, Scriptwriters and Narrative Writers.
  • Own all facets of end-to-end VR content project management, working with internal development teams and external developer partners, including traveling to film production shoots and other events.
  • Oversee planning, development and production of VR content and ensure project milestones and deliverables are executed within scope, budget, & schedule while maintaining high quality.
  • Partner with Product Management, Creative, Art, and Engineering to ensure that the content your team plans and develops is supported by the VR platform. 
  • Build strong relationships with Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) and advisors who will provide the context and expertise for the content your team delivers. 
  • Gather and provide design and development feedback to developers and content partners.
  • Create, maintain, and drive project schedules, milestones, benchmarks, and release plans to successful launch across multiple simultaneous initiatives - including 360 video, In-Engine VR content, and Web Based Trainings. 
  • Oversee developer relations, including selection process and negotiations with outsourcing partners, while driving the contracts process.
  • Lead regular planning and review sessions with key stakeholders, providing clear expectations and accountability while anticipating and mitigating risks ahead of time.
  • Responsibility for supporting QA and Localization efforts for content, adherence to platform specifications and requirements, and ongoing product support including software updates.

What You Bring

  • Minimum eight (8) years of experience managing content development in VR, e-learning, and/or video game production in a corporate environment.
  • Direct people management experience leading cross discipline teams of 5 or more people.
  • PMP, PMI-ACP or equivalent Project Management credentialing. 
  • Experience leading remote production teams, including strong expertise directing external developer and vendor studios.
  • Expert level project management capability across multiple simultaneous initiatives with track record guiding, driving, and influencing teams to launch high quality productions on-time and within budget.
  • Strong background in vendor management, budgeting, executive reporting, and horizontal collaboration with marketing, legal, SMEs, and others
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate with all levels of stakeholders, including executive leaders.
  • Experience thriving in a fast-paced environment, balancing multiple projects and developer engagements.
  • Experience launching multiple VR products and producing enterprise VR content.
  • Passion for Immersive Technologies, and all things XR/VR/AR.

The Pay: Axon is a total compensation company, meaning compensation is made up of base pay, bonus, and stock awards. The starting base pay for this role is between USD 117,000 in the lowest geographic market and USD 225,000 in the highest geographic market. The on target earnings range for this role is between USD 150,000 in the lowest geographic market and USD 288,000 in the highest geographic market. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: level, function, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, geographic market, and often a combination of all these factors.
