Postdoctoral Associate

The University of Tennessee, Knoxville invites applications for Postdoctoral Associate in the Information Integrity Institute at the College of Communication and Information.

Application Process: Review of applications will begin March 25, 2024 and continue until the position has been filled.

The following are the required application documents:

  • Cover letter explaining the applicant’s interest in the Postdoctoral Fellow position.
  • An updated Curriculum Vitae.
  • An official transcript from the PhD-granting institution (If the degree will be earned in spring or summer of 2024, a letter from the applicant’s dissertation adviser stipulating when the degree will be earned).
  • Names and contact information of at least three references.

The Position: The postdoc will assist the institute in fulfilling its mission to build understandings of and create insights about information integrity*, and how it interacts with people, across all information sources.

The postdoc will be appointed for a one-year term beginning in September of 2024, with the possibility of renewal for an additional year based on work performance. The postdoctoral associate is an exempt professional staff position with full benefits. The position salary is $50,000 and includes additional conference travel funds.

The Postdoctoral Associate is expected to: help to organize I3 events, actively taking part in standing I3 meetings, present research stemming from work with the I3, represent the I3 at academic conferences, assist with I3 grant applications. The Institute Postdoctoral Fellow will have the opportunity to collaborate with the Institute’s Faculty Fellows. Institute Director Dr. Catherine Luther will serve as the lead mentor and supervisor.

Qualifications

Requirements: Applicants may come from any field in the social sciences, humanities, business, or engineering. Preference will be given to those who have developed an expertise in an area associated with information and communication. Candidates must have completed their doctoral degree by August of 2024. We cannot consider applications from those who have earned their degree prior to August of 2021.
