University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) seeks an experienced, innovative, servant leader as Portfolio Director (PD), Master of Business Administration within the School of Business and the Department of Business Administration. The PD supports the University's mission of transforming the lives of students by seeking to expand access to the MBA program through new and innovative means. We seek a talented PD with excellent academic credentials, online teaching experience and industry experience. The role involves engaging and building relationships with partners in industry, professional associations, and non-profit organizations, as well as leading and developing a team of educators.
UMGC is the largest online public university in the country enrolling some 90,000 students annually. As an open-access university, UMGC offers bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degree programs, as well as certificates in more than 90 fully online, asynchronous programs and specializations. We have become one of the most dynamic and innovative institutions of higher learning with more than 180 locations in more than 20 countries, including active-duty military and veterans, around the world. Locally, we are known for our reputation as a Maryland state university making workforce-relevant education accessible and affordable to adult learners and other learners for whom a traditional post-secondary education is not an option. Our MBA program is accredited by the International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE) and began accepting students in Fall 1999. We currently have more than 2500 students in the MBA program. The incumbent PD will be charged and challenged with the opportunity to develop a complete portfolio of learning experiences such as non-credit courses, certificates and executive training that extend beyond the existing MBA program.
Residency or relocation to the MD/DC/Northern Virginia metro area is strongly preferred. More specifically, this position is classified as "hybrid" and the work location is Adelphi, Maryland. You may primarily work from home; however, you will be required to report regularly to the office to engage in face-to-face collaborations, and support colleagues as well as executive leadership in Adelphi or other locations within the MD/DC/Northern Virginia metro area. You will also be expected to build relationships and partnerships with experts and organizations through face-to-face interactions at various events and opportunities.
