As an associate designer, you will measure and draw assigned projects (e.g., functional programming, space planning, furniture specs, etc.), render projects by hand or mechanical means, and create and distribute project punch lists. You will ensure work order and project completion, supervise quality control of tradespeople and contractors, and assist with pre-quarter classroom setups and events as needed. You will also select, obtain approval for, and track furniture and product purchases; maintain project schedules; and organize and maintain the design library.

Among other duties, you will organize current project information and archive old projects, adhere to all OSHA regulations and safe practices, and be responsible for managing projects valued at up to one million dollars. You will also lead a setup team for departmental moves.

The successful candidate has exceptional problem-solving abilities and is able to manage a variety of projects concurrently while maintaining accuracy. Experience with contractor selection, field management, architectural coordination, and financial budgeting is beneficial. The candidate should demonstrate spectacular interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal, and can use these abilities to collaborate with various internal partners, including leadership and other key decision makers.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in interior design, architecture, or other building arts discipline
  • Ability to be accepted as a SCAD-authorized driver

Certificates, licenses, and registrations: Valid driver's license

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
