As a Firmware Design Engineer at JADAK, you will work with an innovative team of Computer Vision, edge AI, Software, and Hardware Engineers on innovative embedded vision and RFID systems to meet challenging new product requirements, integrate into unique customer applications, and propose and deliver demonstrations of advanced technology initiatives. In this role you will be given the opportunity to work at the frontier of embedded AI, vision systems, and RFID technology and apply it in several domains including the critical medical devices and scientific instruments fields. As a technical leader in the organization, you will also have the opportunity to shape the technology direction and success of a growing company. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical contributions working as an individual contributor on multiple embedded AI and machine vision platforms.
  • Develop innovative, embedded AI solutions in difficult embedded vision challenges for the medical and robotics markets.
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve software modules and subsystems.
  • Integrate subsystems into practical embedded systems.
  • Work in collaboration with team to develop algorithms, and demonstrate working solutions in product intent, embedded systems. Refine and optimize solutions documenting design constraints and latitudes.
  • Follow and evolve development best practices and emerging embedded systems technologies.

Required Experience, Education, Skills and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of experience in Computer Science or Electrical / Computer Engineering. 
  • Experience with C, C++ and object-oriented design, analysis, and Software debugging skills for embedded systems.
  • Experience with developing Linux and/or RTOS applications, libraries, and device drivers.
  • Experience or an ability to learn effective use of oscilloscopes, logic and protocol analyzers, and other standard electronics lab equipment.
  • Good communication skills to be able to collaborate and present solutions clearly.
  • Analytical and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Willingness to work in a global team of professionals.
  • Occasional travel, less than 10% of a work year.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with embedded, real-time software systems for imaging, vision systems or sensing products or technologies is an advantage. 
  • Knowledge of core image processing techniques and machine learning in vision systems and especially deep learning approaches is an advantage. 
  • Experience or knowledge of SW development best practices and supporting / leading performance improvement efforts is also an advantage. 
  • Background working with sensors and communication protocols (Bluetooth, Ethernet, Serial, USB) is an advantage.
