At CarMax, we want to disrupt our industry, and we’re doing it by transforming our business to give our customers a great experience. The Talent Acquisition (TA) Senior Project Manager works side by side with key TA business partners and stakeholders to define high level business intent and features, drive solution decisions and ensure finished products meet the needs of the business. The Senior Manager is called upon to help shape strategy and content of project delivery, be able to operate in an agile environment and will actively manage the project plan and resources to ensure success. 

What you will do – Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead cross functional projects and teams that transform the way CarMax attracts and hires top talent; create and manage project business cases, project plans and associated analytics to ensure projects are executed on time, on budget, and in scope
  • Solicit ideas, assess and prioritize talent acquisition product opportunities, both for new solutions and existing feature optimization
  • Identify opportunities and drive continuous improvement, develop recruiting strategies and lead & support talent initiatives that ensure our stores and recruiters have the tools necessary to hire successful associates.
  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships with key stakeholders; leverage their insight to develop great products and identify cross-organizational synergies & dependencies
  • Keep stakeholders informed of TA project activities and progress to goals; develop and execute communication plans for partners across the organization in partnership with TA leadership
  • Responsible for ensuring TA shared sites, documents, and policies are available and up to date

Purpose of the role

To excel in this role, an individual must have:

  • Experience leading projects of large scope, size and duration (e.g. system/platform conversions, process overhaul), and ability to adapt to changing priorities while consistently and accurately meeting deliverables
  • Familiarity with Agile, Scrum and related principles and best practices a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to identify areas of improvement and make sound recommendations to solve problems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interface with, and facilitate working sessions between, different groups of stakeholders
  • Relevant industry and functional knowledge
  • Ability to consult, communicate with and influence a variety of audiences including business partners, stakeholders, and team members to meet project deliverables 
  • Excellent cross-functional teamwork skills and ability to effectively navigate across the organization
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision, and proceed on own good judgment

Qualifications and Requirements

  • 3+ years of proven project management experience leading projects, required
  • Strong understanding of operational functions, knowledge of Talent Acquisition tools and technology a plus
  • BA or BS in related field, preferred
  • Talent Acquisition experience a plus
  • Knowledge of CarMax business and systems a plus
  • Experience with Agile, Scrum and related principles and best practices a plus
  • Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel

Work Location and Arrangement: This role will be based out of the CarMax Home Office in Richmond, VA and have a Hybrid work arrangement 

Work Authorization: Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
