We are looking for you to join our team as an Airworthiness Engineer based out of Woodland Hills, CA. As an Airworthiness Engineer at Northrop Grumman you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation. What You’ll get to Do:

Perform technical airworthiness planning and verification support including development of airworthiness plans, basis of certifications, means of compliance, and certification activities for aircraft subsystems with integrated product teams and customer counterparts.

  • Review and coordination with other airworthiness engineers as well as internal engineering disciplines to include H/W and S/W design, system safety, and test
  • Interface with H/W and S/W design, system safety, and test engineering disciplines to obtain Airworthiness artifacts and compile Airworthiness documentation for compliance
  • Perform functional and process analyses, requirements allocation to translate customer requirements into criteria and requirements
  • Ensure the logical and systematic realization of customer airworthiness requirements into system solutions to meet program objectives (e.g., Flight releases, Type certification, and continued airworthiness)
  • You will work in a fast-paced work environment and collaborate across multiple engineering disciplines
  • Must have excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management

Basic Qualifications:

  • 9+ years of experience with a Bachelors of Science in a STEM discipline; 7+ years of experience with Masters; 4+ Years with a PhD. Four additional years of airworthiness engineering experience may be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.
  • Desire to work airworthiness planning and verification for aircraft subsystems
  • Expert knowledge and hands-on experience with MIL-HDBK-516C and any of following: MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-882E, DO-178B/C, and DO-254
  • Experience with airworthiness, quality, safety, electrical engineering or software engineering
  • Familiarity with DoD Military Airworthiness Certification
  • US Citizenship is required to obtain and maintain security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university
  • Military and Civil Airworthiness experience
  • Military aircraft subsystems development or modification experience
  • Familiarity with one or more of the following: MIL-STD-1797, MIL-STD-1530, MIL-STD-3013, MIL-STD 1796
  • Familiarity with USAF Airworthiness Policy Directives, Instructions, and Airworthiness Bulletins (AWB)
  • Experience in Airworthiness Risk Assessments (AWRA), program risks and hazard analyses
  • Experience in Agile processes
  • Active Secret DoD Secret

Salary Range: $133,000.00 - $199,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
