About the job

The Red Hat Openstack CI-Operations team is looking for an Associate Software Developer in Test to join us in Brno, Czechia. 

In this position, you will play a key role in keeping the Red Hat Openstack CI environment available and secure, as well as handling the day-to-day availability of all internal CI resources used for software delivery and software testing. You’ll be responsible for problem detection and automated recovery scenarios, incident management, and understanding of complicated, interconnected data points to determine when issues arise. You’ll get a chance to work in a complex and fast-paced environment, while quickly learning new skills and creating ways to consistently meet service level agreements and keep the CI services running for our internal users. You will be part of a supportive team with various degrees of experience that are there to help you succeed.

What you will do

  • Work to automatically detect potential issues in a large containerized environment
  • Participate in a regular on-call schedule
  • Write automation scripts to auto-correct or completely prevent issues in our CI solution
  • Track and review changes in a fast-paced environment
  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for performing maintenance tasks and remediating problems in our environment

What you will bring

  • Demonstrated control of using git (basic operations including branching, gitlab automation is a plus)
  • Experience managing Linux servers running Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), CentOS, or Fedora
  • Familiarity with containers (with podman or docker; Starting/stopping a container, building a container image, editing a Containerfile/Dockerfile)
  • Experience with object-oriented programming in at least one dynamic language; Python is a plus

The following are considered a plus:

  • Experience using configuration management systems like Ansible by Red Hat, Puppet, or Chef
  • Experience using Red Hat OpenShift or Kubernetes
