Cloudera is looking for a software engineer with strong enterprise JavaScript development expertise to join Cloudera's Product Design & Content team. 

As a software engineer, you will be working with a globally distributed team to develop, distribute, and support the front-end frameworks and publishing pipelines of Cloudera’s technical documentation portal, docs.cloudera.com. Your focus will also include other internal systems and processes that are critical to the success of the Product Design & Content team, and the business as a whole. Our technical documentation is critical for our customers, supporting them throughout the entire customer journey. This is not only an opportunity to improve your front-end development skills, but to learn new development skills while continuing to build expertise in enterprise AI, big data technologies, architectures, and enterprise data estates. 

As a Senior Staff Tools Engineer you will…

  • Drive architecture, design, and implementation of key aspects of the technical documentation publishing process
  • Collaborate with the entire Product Design and Content team to maintain and evolve the docs.cloudera.com web portal
  • Managing the hosting of a static website using AWS technologies and Docker
  • Maintaining the Solr database for supporting Search Functionality as part of the internal cloudera website
  • Work with product management, engineering, UX, documentation, and quality assurance teams to deliver high quality experiences
  • Interact with cross functional teams to help define roadmap and shape the technical documentation experience
  • Act as a force multiplier to empower team members to deliver high-quality software at a fast pace
  • Apply principles, theories, and concepts to resolve complex issues and technical problems in innovative and impactful ways
  • Set priorities and self-initiate work assignments based on functional/technical goals in the area of focus
  • Determine and pursue courses of action necessary to obtain desired results
  • Manage project priorities, technical resources, and plan work for other team members when identified as a project manager
  • Manage TLS & SSL certificates and refreshing as needed
  • Manage and monitor SEO for docs.cloudera.com

We are excited about you if you have….

  • 7 years of experience, working in a highly technical, fast paced environment
  • BS or MS in Computer Science
  • Proven track record of performance
  • Strong computer science fundamentals, passionate about programming
  • Tooling experience: SystemJS, npm, maven, Git, Grunt, Karma, Jasmine, Docker, AWS, Solr, Tomcat, Ruby
  • Framework/Library experience: React, Angular, D3, jQuery, Jekyll, Python
  • Experience with the following: API design, RESTful architectures, HTTP, ES5, HTML5, CSS/SASS, optimized/minified/compressed javascript, and test driven development
  • Understanding of client side security concerns
  • Strong oral and written communication skills required

You might also have…

  • Experience with DITA and XML based authoring architectures
  • Experience contributing to and maintaining a design system and/or UI component library
