The College of Public Service at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) will establish and maintain a pool of Lecturers in Public Administration from which future appointments to temporary, non-tenure track positions will be made. Appointments are part-time (less than 50% time) and will be made semester-by-semester.

The lecturer will prepare and teach graduate-level courses in Public Administration (i.e., PAD courses numbered 5000 and above). Course offerings include in-person evening classes and online asynchronous classes.

Work Location: Determined by course modality (i.e., on-site if teaching an in-person course; remote if teaching an online course; or a combination of the two if teaching a hybrid course). 

This position has been determined to be exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

What We Offer:

Salary Range: 

Pay rate is dependent on the number of courses taught for the College of Public Service (CPS):

  • 1st & 2nd course taught for CPS = $3,250.00/course
  • 3rd & 4th course taught for CPS = $3,450.00/course
  • 5th course and beyond taught for CPS = $3,750.00/course

Tentative Search Timeline:

Qualifications

Please note that while the position details both required qualifications as well as preferred qualifications below, we want applicants to be aware that they do not need to have all of the desired skills and experience to be considered for this position. If you meet the minimum qualifications, have passion for the work, along with experience in a related field, you are encouraged to apply. We encourage on-the-job training for any additional skills or knowledge that become relevant to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A doctorate degree in a related field from an accredited institution.

OR

  • A master's degree in public administration or a related field from an accredited institution AND at least 5 years of relevant work experience at a leadership or specialized expert level. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous teaching experience which may include teaching at post-secondary levels and/or leading professional trainings.
  • Ability to teach in multiple formats (in-person, online asynchronous, online synchronous, hybrid). 
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience at a leadership or specialized expert level. 

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to move. Tasks may involve looking at the computer screen continuously for long periods of time. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
